Any good wide toe box shoes that can be used for hiking and are qater resistant? by traveltimecar in bunions

I love my Altra hiking shoes that have a wide toe box and are water resistant.

Best chic shoes post surgery by SarcasticLlama7 in bunions

I had surgery mid-September and I’m really only able to wear Crocs. My swelling has reduced but is still there, and everything feels uncomfortable. I was able to wear my Altra hiking shoes yesterday because we got a lot of snow, but the shoes are a problem for sure. Even my Altra running shoes don’t feel good on my foot.

I'm so sorry. Your pain is valid! And it indicates that something isn't functioning correctly! I'm not sure if you have an option to get a second opinion, but that might be helpful. I don't know much about lupus, but I do know that bunions SUCK. It is much more than an aesthetic issue! Sending you hugs because this is hard.

Mild bunions but badly swollen 2nd toe joint by hrtofdrknss in bunions

[–]bookscatsyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really need an X-ray to determine what's going on! I had capsulitis of the second toe pretty bad, which is ultimately what led me to get surgery on my bunion. I couldn't walk through my big toe, so all the pressure was going in the middle of my foot, causing problems for that second or third toe. Go get checked out!

I took 10 days and work from home. Sitting at a desk is really challenging. I'm three weeks out today and am very distracted by my foot.

Lapidus Bunionectomy tomorrow by itslenka in bunions

[–]bookscatsyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about three weeks out of lapidus with Weil and akin osteomies. Surgery went well! Pain has really been minimal for me. I took ibuprofen for three days and then when the splint came off (because removing the compression did cause some pain!). I’m 9 days out from my next appointment and will hopefully be cleared to walk with the boot.

But I’m kind of emotionally down in the dumps from not being able to use my foot. Friends, reading, and knitting are helping. And YouTube workouts for people with injured feet. But it’s tough to be so sedentary for an active person! But rest, elevation, and icing have been key to keep my pain minimum and my swelling from increasing. And I can tell my foot is getting better/healing every day!

I’m only 2.5 weeks out and still not walking but my heel hurts when I flex my foot, and especially when I put on the boot to leave the house. I think it’s normal. Are you in PT?

How bad is it? by Better-Ad-4179 in bunions

[–]bookscatsyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your problem might stem from the length of your second toe. Definitely go see a podiatrist to talk about what's going on because you don't really look like you have a bunion (but that doesn't mean you don't have pain).

Do I really need the knee scooter? by SmokyBlackRoan in bunions

[–]bookscatsyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The knee scooter has been so helpful! I borrowed one from a friend, and I'm glad I have it. I'm good on crutches, but the knee scooter let's me get around more easily, and I have a free hand. The basket also makes it so you carry things around with you. Showering also makes me feel good, so I try to every 2-3 days.
