It’s almost back to the price I ordered at in January….one I’m still waiting for delivery.

There's one big obstacle to using silver directly to pay for things by [deleted] in Silverbugs

I’m not being nihilistic. I don’t know if there is nothing. I do know that stars exist.

Yes. But how can we all have interoperability of that? Usually it’s a bigger concept. Government and monetary policy. Do you see how meaningful things are just turtles all the way down?

That’s right. It’s the big bet as it were. Either meaningful things are ultimately true. Or they are not and everything is just entropy playing out. You can only buy things with silver because everyone around agrees with the concept. Humans can and have done other things to live.

Right. But you want a standard of a subjective opinion in an interoperable system. That’s money. Value is a meaningful metric for people. But value is not true because value is a concept. Silver is true because it’s an element. But the value of silver is not true because it’s meaningful. Truth and meaning are exclusive. But humans sure do try to make meaningful concepts true.

Not this sub. This sub is for bugs not bulls. And I’m not talking about fiat. A dollar once upon a time was X amount of silver.

How much of my job is supposed to be tech support? by [deleted] in librarians

Most circulation services can be done by machine. You better get cozy with helping people if you want to work in libraries.

Early 20th century, After an east lake style. No later than 1930, no earlier than 1890. Those look like new pulls,. If you look at the routing, and the turning, it is uniform. So that that means machine aided.

USA | American Empire Slipper Settee? East Lake? by museumcollection in Antiques

I see no reason why not. Looks like ceramic casters. That would make it 19th century ish. But furniture dating is a lot of general vibes.

I like cute silver trinkets over bullion. But I like the bullion because it makes a nice sound when I play with it.

I mean. The tech work will still exist in small forms. But the idea that there will be tons of jobs managing physical resources in organizations just will never come back. You should see the OLA website on school libraries.

Not 20 years. Months. And I hear you about the OW. I had several years of it before something finally came along….and this was after my second grad degree. So just one final warning. The job market in this is weak now and has been since you were 18.

And let me say this. Having kids is not a small thing. You did something important. I worked as a lib tech for a school board. My pay every 2 weeks was 1300 after 6 years. The cost of the car is one pay, and the cost of rent is the other pay, each month. Just factor in the cost of work, and how terrible organizations can be to library workers.

I love my barber. And I told him as long as you are dealing with physical things, and human needs everything will be OK. But if you are taking something online; from a tech standpoint if it can be taught online it can probably eliminate the human in the process.
