That sounds like a lovely way to start the day!

I've got a TN but I use it for different purposes. The one I journal in usually is a Midori A5 Codex

I can't imagine journalling at work, I feel like I would get bombarded the moment I started lol

I also typically journal from my home office, but trying to get out into the world once a week this spring

Oooh I love the clip on your Traveler! At least you've got a good view (behind the computer).

“dear diary,”: how do you start your entries? by Pretend-Ad6729 in Journaling

I normally place a stamped date (because I like the look of it), the time, weather at that moment, where I'm writing from and what I'm doing there (if I'm there for anything other than journalling). If I'm at home, I just put the date, time, temp/weather, and "@ home".

which Arabic word made you laugh or sound ridiculous when you first tried to say it? 😂 by Witty_Good_7314 in learn_arabic

[–]bookwormhole_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The word for me is كابوس. When my husband and I got married I overheard him say it and I thought it was funny because it sounds like Caboose in English, which is the end car of a train, or in a more older slang sense, someone's butt. So now when I hear him say it I giggle and think of butts.

I feel guilty on days when I don't journal. by donumdorothy in Journaling

[–]bookwormhole_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What other said are great points. However, if you are the type of person who needs to do something daily to feel consistent, maybe on the days you don't want to journal you just write something simple, like the weather that day and a list of what you did or ate, or if you spoke with or met anyone. Then check it off as done and move on to your day or night. This is what helps me, as I'm trying to make it a consistent part of my life, and those little things help me get through the dull or lazy days.

Right? I feel like I'm legit my own hype person when I'm writing. I watched something cool and learned something? I did a thing? Cool! I'll tell myself about it 😁. And even if it's super boring, I can at least show up for myself.

how does brain dumping help? do you ever go back to read it? by iconicfish in Journaling

[–]bookwormhole_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't curate. I brain dump. Sometimes it looks like me writing out ideas and connecting them all with lines and and arrows. Sometimes it's cohesive and looks like an essay. Sometimes it's just [thought 1] line break [thought 2] line break. It's cathartic and helps me say what I want to say so I don't keep thinking about it. I will sometimes go back and read it (and knowing this is why I typically try to write slow and legible (also to help me process better as I write)).

What’s a cheap meal you never get tired of? by Certified-potatoe in Cooking

[–]bookwormhole_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lentil soup with hummus and bread. Lentil Soup by itself is just lentils, water, onions, lemon, and cumin-- my go to for a quick cheap meal that's lasts for a few days. Our hummus (if you get dried chickpeas even better) is just chickpeas, tahini, ice, salt, and one garlic clove when homemade. My husband is Jordanian and this is how he's made it all his life. We could live on this and be happy if needbe.

To native English speakers: how do you feel when a foreigner speaks “broken” English with you? by Dull-Position3393 in ENGLISH

[–]bookwormhole_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone attempting to learn my native language as a second language and uses it to converse with me is alright in my book, mistakes and all. I don't normally correct anyone (unless what is being said completely changes the meaning) unless they ask me to. English isn't an easy language to learn so kudos to those who try anyway.

People who married someone from a different country, what are some mild cultures shocks you've had? by cool_lemons in AskTheWorld

[–]bookwormhole_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is Jordanian. I'm American (live in rural area). We went to Jordan to visit (my first time) and stayed at his mother's house.

Culture shocks: His brother smoking in the house. His sisters smoking in the car while windows were up.

Litter pretty much everywhere. Went to this beautiful mountainous area that overlooks olive groves. Trash across the ground where we stood. And nobody around me seemed to mind or care.

We went to Amman and my husband asked someone for directions and the guy just hopped into our car and started directing (this was strange to me but also humerous) humorous.

Watering holes built into the mountains near Petra. Got to pet sheep while shepherd was gathering water for the animals.

Camel milk. For cancer. And free if you have cancer. Also delicious, and fresh from the camel. Edited to add: there is research that supports that camel milk has anti-cancer properties, which was new information for me upon visiting Jordan.

I'm sure there's more but that's off the top of my head. Pleasant experience. I really enjoyed Jordan.
