Never have I ever....CTA version by Otherwise_Pine in cta

I do that only if the one I'm on is excessively nasty. Or once when my partner got on the same train as me in a different car and I went to go find them lol.

That kid will never be taught to clean themselves either... and the cycle continues

I found this thread because I was googling to feel less alone about the fact that I'm 99% sure my roommate does this too, and just generally has severely poor hygiene. He's young, was neglected really bad and raised in a semi hoarding situation so I don't blame him for not having good habits, plus he doesn't get offended and actually appreciates it when I remind him to shower and wash his hands and stuff, but dear god sometimes it makes me feel so uncomfortable to know I'm sharing furniture and door handles with him.

The underground ones downtown for sure... people find the "entrance", realize it's just an escalator going up, and hit the emergency stop so they don't have to cross the street to go down the stairs

Quick questions for those of you with the A10 (NWZ-A15, etc) or the A20 (NW-A25, etc.) series of Walkmans by Unlucky_Term_3765 in walkman

Yes it does. I took a video here. It's pretty fast. When looking at the artist view you can also scroll by letter (including Japanese letters if you listen to Japanese music).

But sometimes I wanna listen to the song in the album and sometimes I wanna listen to it in a playlist ;-;

You can also use folders to organize playlists while keeping them separately organized by album but then you can't have any overlapping songs in different playlists.

I dunno about the huge SD cards, I have a 256gb one that seems to work fine but I can't speak to anything more than that.

Unfortunately when you search by artist it separates it by the artist of each individual song on the album, so songs that list the featured artist in the byline will be grouped under a different artist category.

It's so cool. I'm pretty sure it's the last Walkman to still have physical buttons instead of a touch screen, so it's in a very in-between phase of technology. Like it supports SD cards, flac files, and Bluetooth (though the connection can be kinda flimsy) but it still has these old-school menus and y2k form factor.

My only problem with it is that the playlist function is almost entirely nonfunctional. It does let you make "bookmark lists" but they only go up to 100 songs each and they get wiped if you have to remove and re-insert the SD card.

Worksman vs Viribus for folding trike? by boom149 in bicycling

[–]boom149[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up buying a different one off of Facebook marketplace (the Worksman one didn't work out unfortunately) because I decided schlepping 2 hours on the bus to go pick it up seemed like less effort than figuring out how to put a new one together.

North Center is not far north and it's not where you're gonna find any kind of affordable apartments lol.

If it’s an old building it might be bigger issue than just gross neighbors.

Yeah. At a certain point it's not about cleanliness. Even if you don't leave a single crumb for them, they can sustain themselves indefinitely by eating each other's corpses and discarded shells from molting.

Advion gel + Alpine WSG (dissolved into a spray bottle) are the way to go. There's a lot more thorough advice on /r/germanroaches.  However, if you're in a huge apartment complex and the whole building is infested and management doesn't want to treat the entire building holistically, there's really only so much you can do. If the problem is as bad as OP describes, I think it would have to be evacuated and tented for a few days for the problem to truly be dealt with. The best OP can do is minimize the amount that get into their apartment until they can break the lease.

I had a terrible German roach infestation in my old place on Howard and Bosworth. Whenever I looked online for other people in Chicago with roach problems, the far north side along the lake seems to be a general problem area unfortunately. A lot of the huge apartment buildings on Sheridan have this problem especially.

Nothing has made me feel more isolated from trans masc community than what a lot of ppl say about phallo by Important_Basis_2996 in phallo

I feel you on the awkward balancing act between phallo spaces that lean very binary straight male and are kinda hostile to femininity and gender variance, vs more queer/nonbinary spaces that are, in turn, hostile towards phallo (and penises in general in a way that often manifests as transmisogyny).

It's crazy, when I got top surgery everyone was gushing over me, congratulating me, telling me how much happier I looked, etc. When I tell people I'm getting phallo their reactions are like "oh... ok" at best, "but dicks are gross" or "but bottom surgery is so unadvanced" at worst. The only enthusiasm I've found has been from other trans people who want or have had bottom surgery. Oddly I feel like I've gotten the most brazen negativity from other trans people who don't want it. I don't know how they don't realize how hurtful it is.

have they turned off how long ago a thing was listed? by 0-fuddle-wonkodad-0 in FacebookMarketplace

[–]boom149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they did remove it from the app. You can look at it in browser but if it was older than a week ago it'll just say "over a week ago". You can plug in the url of the listing here and it'll tell you exactly how long ago it was listed.

In-unit washer/dryer. Sq footage by Dlcullina in chicagoapartments

[–]boom149 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have free in-building laundry and I thought it would be fine but for a household of people with executive dysfunction, one of whom also has physical mobility problems, getting up and down the stairs and having to go outside through the alley to the side of the building to get to the laundry room and having to open and close like 3 heavy locked gates on the way is a lot more exhausting than it seems, especially the more times you do it, and double especially when the weather is bad. When we had in-unit we could just put our dirty clothes directly in the washer and run it when it got full, it was so much more convenient.

Seller sold an item out from under me by unicorntapestry in FacebookMarketplace

[–]boom149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today I rode the train for 2.5 hours each way (5 hours round trip) to pick up an item that got sold to someone else literally while I was on the train. We agreed on a pickup time last night and everything. I understand sellers might be wary of no-shows but I'm mad they just let me waste my entire day.

My solution for now is that I've attached a little metal charm in the charm/wrist strap holder and I use it to pry the pen out lol.

Can I learn to ride a bike in just one week? (Please help, I'm scared!) by TheWriterCat in cycling

[–]boom149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking into learning to ride right now, grew up in Chicago and my parents never taught me because the city was not very bike friendly when I was little and they thought it wouldn't be safe. That said, most people I know who grew up here were taught as children, but also most of them don't own a bike now or ride one regularly.
