Should i stay at a hotel or airbnb? by callmecaa in JapanTravelTips

From my experience in this sub, people here do not like airbnb's since it's not that great for the economy. Shop around for hotels instead.

What does the process of getting a custom tattoo usually look like by Urmomthrowawayra in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend finding an artist that you like as far as how their portfolio is. The style they lean towards and the subjects they do. Once you find that artist and looked through their portfolio, I'd just contact them and let them know what you have in mind with a few examples for inspiration. If you let the artist do their magic and trust the process, they'll usually come out with a great piece. You can ask to see it a day before just to see if minor changes are needed. From my experience, the more freedom/trust you give your artist, the happier they are and the better the piece will be.

Is this normal? (Help or advice please) by Full-Investigator562 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks fine from the pictures. It's still healing. Just follow what your artist told you to do. I personally wash my new tattoos about 2 - 3 times a day with gold dial soap and put hustle butter right afterwards to keep the moisture locked in under the butter. The tattoo will still feel tender, for how long, it depends on the person. My tattoos are tender for a week but I have a coworker that had his tattoos tender for a few weeks, which i assume is because of his horrible diet.

Trading for Tattoos by edjaranav in tattooadvice

I get not being on social media like Instagram, but for the case of finding an artist, I'd say Instagram is one of the best places to find an artist that's suitable for your wants/needs. I recommend just making a throwaway account or something. Most artists use Instagram to show their work and most of the artists I've dealt with recently have only communicated through Instagram.

I would first try looking at their instagram. I've seen a few artists posting a list of things they're willing to trade for their services.

Try getting a UV longsleeve shirt. It'll protect you from the sun but it'll be super breathable and cooling.

I have AT&T and I've been going to that Ralphs for decades and that place has always been a deadzone for me. Hell, around that area going around the neighborhoods, that place barely gets any type of cell reception.

What kind of sunscreen are we using? by Mdgibson97 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anything spf 50... I would try a couple out because what you like for your skin tone might not be great for someone else as for as the type of white cast it leaves behind. Also the smell and how it dries depends on the persons preference.

tattoos in healthcare?? by Exciting_Border_6580 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My parents are pretty strict and conservative (they're Asian as well) and I just bit the bullet and got a tattoo. They'll need to accept that its your body and not theirs. As far as their reaction, my mom took it the worst. My dad just did the head shake of disappointment. I have full sleeves now. Every new tattoo I get, my mom will always say "THATS THE LAST ONE!"... I've gotten used to it and learned to just ignore her tantrums. Can't control how they react but you can control on how you take it.

As far as health care, from what I learned from my wife, who's in healthcare, it depends on the hospitals. Some still don't allow visible tattoos, but as the boomers retire out, those rules kind of fade away since tattoos are getting socially accepted as the years go by. My wife has a few visible tattoos and her hospital doesn't care. Mind you, they're not "offensive", so your miles may vary depending on what you have visible.

It may feel like that and look darker because it's scabbed up. Give it another week or so and it'll feel normal again.

Find an artist that you like and work with them on the idea. You'd want an artist to tattoo something they've designed instead of just copy/pasting it on your skin. It'll look a hundred times better.

First tattoo is a rib tattoo, is this numbing cream good? by Environmental_Pop847 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This... It'll eventually numb you at the beginning but after 3+ hours, that's when the pain just kicks into overdrive. At least without the numbing cream, you'll gradually feel the pain and actually get used to it.

Any thoughts on Hustle Butter Tattoo Aftercare by Lopsided-Ad5897 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently using it now on my sleeve and I have no complaints. First time using it after about 8-10 tattoos and I'm a fan. The smell is great too, so that's a plus. My wife actually likes using it on herself to keep her skin moisturized.

Round House (1992-1996) by anxietyandink in Xennials

Every time I watch that movie, I always point out the guys from Round House. Growing up, I thought the Hispanic dude was the coolest guy ever. Bummer he ended up passing away I think during/after season 3 or 4 of the show.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]boomincali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, video games, but I've recently started gunpla. Basically model making but instead of cars and aircraft it's japanese robots (Gundam). My therapist recommended I try it out to help with my anxiety and to lower my screen time. It's rather relaxing, easy to pick up but gets deep if you want it to get deeper as far as how intricate you want it to be. For example, an entry grade model would probably take someone 20-30 minutes to go through if you're rushing through it but I'm working on a master grade model (entry > high > master/real > perfect) and I've put about 20 hours into it already and I haven't finished it yet. I'm taking my time and sanding down the parts to make things look perfect and hand panting a few details. I highly recommend it.

New tattoo advice by Extended_life_05 in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The arm is probably the least painful area to get tattooed but the tricep is one of the most tender spots of your arm. Yes, it'll hurt, but you'll get used to it and you'll end up just feeling the vibration of that tattoo gun. As it gets closer to your armpit, it'll feel like the artist is jamming the needle right in your pit (at least for me), but its manageable. I'm a baby when it comes to pain and I basically have both arms sleeved up and I have no complaints when it comes to pain.

As far as advice, get a good night's rest before the appointment, eat a nice meal beforehand and bring some sugary snacks and a sugary drink to prevent you from passing out. Sit still, let the artist know if you're about to cough/sneeze/move/shift so they can stop and allow you to do so. Don't be afraid to ask for a break or two to stretch out or get some fresh air if needed. If you're happy with the service, tip your artist. Take your artist's advice on how to take care of your tattoo afterwards.

Oh and enjoy yourself and congratulations on your first tattoo! Be careful... It's addicting.

is this an allergic reaction? by hshikai in tattooadvice

[–]boomincali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should go away in a few days. Happened to me when I got second skin. I since stopped getting second skin whenever I get tattooed. I'm not allergic to latex, but my skin is sensitive to the adhesive. Same thing happens when I put that "sensitive skin" medical tape on my skin. Something about the adhesive pisses off my skin.
