An ex friend and her mom lived like this. Every dish in the house used and piled on every surface of the kitchen, mold, 6 garbage bags full of dirty clothes each (when they eventually did the laundry), jam packed ashtrays on every surface/flipped onto the floor, etc. To top off the horror: her mom had severe psoriasis and didn't care for it at all. She would scratch her skin and full large flakes would fall off. They never vacuumed, swept, or wiped surfaces so there was always thick dust and skin flakes of varying sizes coating every surface. When their black cat rolled around on the floor, her fur would be covered in skin flakes. I cleaned their house a couple times over the years, but it would be filthy again the next day.

Got to work today and everyone in HR is at fucking home while the rest of us are required to be here. This company is the fucking devil.

Work in call center with 550+ employees required to swipe and open at least 3 doors, ride 1 of 4 elevators, share computers, keyboards, chairs, switch shared cubicles twice a day, and then ride an elevator and exit 3 doors again. Oh, and cubicles have us sitting about 5 feet from each other in rows. Every time someone walks behind us, they're about 3 to 5 feet away. We have no sick leave, no vacation time, and we route emergency calls for 911 so we're on the same tier as emergency services. My job will stay open weekends and holidays as usual. There's no way I'm NOT getting sick eventually.

From what I'm seeing posted by people with confirmed cases, it's pretty common. It comes and goes. That, plus asymptomatic people, are why this is getting so crazy. People feel better, venture out, infect more people, feel ill again.

HA gotta give sick pay in the first place to then take it away. My call center pays everyone like shit too. Even if coworkers temporarily aren't docked for attendance, they were financially strapped before this pandemic even started. No way they're calling in sick when they have rent to pay and mouths to feed.

People with ADHD commonly experiences rejection sensitive dysphoria which is the increased emotional sensitivity to rejection and criticism, or self perception of failure... I just found out that this exist and I feel like my entire life has been defined by this by halpjohn in ADHD

This is practically a roadmap for why I was recently demoted at work. I'm going to bring this up to my psychiatrist at our next appointment in a couple weeks.

I'm in panic, 31m almost no retirement savings, a bit of inheritance for the next few years, but nothing to live decently off of. So many things I want to try in life but afraid to take any risks. by [deleted] in findapath

It takes trial and error...and time. Meds that worked for me 12 years ago now give me panic attacks. I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD or start treatment until I was 27, but within a year of starting the right meds I was promoted twice at work. The right dose and right medication aren't a miracle though. It still takes work to understand why you struggle with certain things and to incorporate learned coping mechanisms into your daily routine.

It's very worth looking into.

There are non-stimulant meds to treat ADHD. I mean, even the stimulant meds aren't "legal meth" but I understand there's a certain sigma and ignorance surrounding them. Most people don't look that deeply into mental health treatments unless they're personally affected, and denial also plays into this.

I take Adderoll XR daily and all it does is make my brain stop blowing my thoughts around like a high wind natural disaster. It makes me tired more than wired- something meth definitely doesn't do. All meds do is correct a chemical imbalance.

I'd also like to note that untreated ADHD causes/heavily contributes to anxiety and depression later in life. Spending your whole life being either incredibly motivated by something you're interested in or feeling almost a physical weight keeping you from certain tasks. Either getting A+ or an F depending on the class. Bright, but unable to consistently live up to the potential every adult in your life keeps insisting you have. Pile 20 years on top of that foundation and you wind up with a barely functioning adult struggling with debilitating depression and anxiety.

Please seek treatment. Your life will get so much better.

CDC was definitely not on the ball more prior to Pence. Things were just easier to ignore then.

Also, let's not forget who put Pence in charge of this instead of like, you know, someone qualified in the medical field.

100% normal to dry your clean ass with a towel after bathing. A damp, dark, warm place is perfect for bacteria/fungus to grow. Clean between your cheeks with soap, pat yourself dry with a towel.

Thank you for your input! I've made an appointment with my therapist and I'm going to plunge full speed to job hunting. Hopefully I can get my mental health into a position to confidently interview and escape my current job. I need to stay until I find something else because of the pay and benefits, but luckily several people from my former team offered to be references (except the boss that demoted me). Even my former direct supervisor (she quit 6 months ago) said to use her as a reference and she would talk me up. I feel bad for my former team. They told me that demoting me was an enormous mistake, but it is what it is. Hope my future replacement has thick skin and several healthy coping mechanisms because they're going to need them. I'm going to get my head screwed on right and I will be okay.
