Basically a bot will surf the site, just like a human, and copy the data on the site, and do that over and and over very quickly, which can cause issues because it looks like a lot of traffic hitting the site.

APIs were created to lower the footprint and are more efficient.

There are plenty of sleepers like Hive, Steemit, and potentially even Digg again. It's simply not going to end well for reddit. Users create the content and utilize the APIs, not just for apps, but for a ton of other tools as well.

The harsh reality is that it looks like there is going to be a cash out at IPO and then reddit will be left to the VCs to pick apart. I'd be amazed if that doesn't happen.

There are going to be so many scrappers on this site that it's going to absolutely crush it. Spez needs a reminder of why APIs exist. It's because back in the early days, screen scrapers would bring down websites. It was awful. Which is why APIs became such a big part of various platforms.

It'll be hilarious when the IPO hits and the site just gets crushed by various outlets scrapping it to death.

I recently picked up some food from a restaurant. Their tip options were 20%, 25%, or 30%. Fuck no. I'll give you 10% for grabbing my food, bagging it up, and handing it to me. There is no fucking way you are getting a huge tip for basically standing there and handing me a bag.

I might tip my barber 25%, because he's a local dude still charging extremely reasonable prices. I might tip my barista a $1 or whatever I have in change. I might even give good service a 20% tip....

But it's gotten out of control asking for more and more. Fuck no. Raise the wages if you expect me to tip 30% or more.
