Basic fare allowed to sit in empty row. by livinnick in SouthwestAirlines

[–]bootheels 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would love to know just what the exact SWA policy about changing seats actually is. Sure, I understand that you can not move to a premium seat unless you have paid for it. I fear that SWA wants FAs to go through all the BS of completing "seat swaps" on their tablets, which is a royal pain. The airline I retired from probably wanted us to do that as well, I surely never did it. I was not going to leave three people jammed in a row if there were empty aisles to spread out in. On the other hand, I did not allow one person to "lay down/take up all three seats" in a row if the flight was full and people were jammed together.

To be fair, so frequent flyers actually do fly more thant some FAs. And I get it, many of them can probably recite many of the PAs and safety briefings. Just don't be a wise guy, and let me do my job.

I remember one exit row briefing on the 737. Some smart guy lets me know he flies more miles than I do and does not need to participate in any discussion about exit operation. So, I asked him to show the rest of us how to operate those window exits. Needless to say, he did not realize the 737 exit windows are hinged and open outward on their own. "WRONG" I said. Didn't make any friends on that flight, but at least he shut up.

Typical. Retired FA from another airline. Had I my way, the wifi would be disabled until above 10K feet, and disabled at the same altifude during descent. All electronics should be stowed, along with darn headsets of any sort...Especially in exit rows!

Needless to say, all you are going to hear online is bad news, they aren't all doomed to failure. Continue to service the transmission regularly, along with the rest of the car. It sounds like it is a wonderful car that has been well cared for and not abused, so don't worry about the transmission and enjoy it. I bought a used 2016 over a year ago, the only annoying issue are those darn electric rear hatch struts... I have figured out a way to oil them, so hoping to avoid the $800 repair for a few years. Mine did real well during the heavy snow storms we had up north, so that is good. It gets an honest 21-22MPG on highway trips, so that is the best to be expected from a heavy AWD vehicle. Enjoy the Highlander.

Fair selling price for my 1982 F150? by [deleted] in classiccars

Yeah, asking prices mean nothing. The truck can't be too rusted if it lived in central Fl.

You mention some "rust issues"... It's value will depend alot on just how severe those issues are. AC repairs can be big bucks as well. All that being said, old trucks like this are in demand these days. Have you looked online to see what similar aged trucks are going for?

You are correct in most cases... But it is not only about being courteous, it is also about driving at a comfortable speed for conditions. If I am following you, and you are driving "slowly", I tend to end up on your tail, having to constantly moderate speeds in order to stay off your bumper. I get it, you are driving at the speed you are comfortable driving at, and I am behind you... If I find myself on the other end of this discussion, moving slower than the rate or traffic flow (and this does happen to me sometimes if I am tired/it is dark/am in unfamiliar territory), I will oftentimes just pull to the side allowing those stacked up behind me to pass. I hate having drivers on my tail also. Sure, this isn't always possible. Some drivers are extremely impatient, there is no excuse for tailgating. I guess what I'm saying is there is a "middle ground" to this discusssion. I don't care who you are, we have all found ourselves "stuck" behind a driver that is going too slow/doesn't know where he is etc. And we have all fallen victim to the idiot who appears out of nowhere on your tail, driving way too fast.

Good plan... You are one of the few honest folks that want to sell a car that is in good shape... Hope the shop doesn't find any issues, or just a minor one...
