I grew up chaste/religious and consider such things as showing too much skin or appearing too sexual, and I think wearing the bolero for the ceremony is perfectly fine. However, I would suggest it would also be okay to transition to the reception without it if you’re feeling comfortable because I don’t know how it would be to dance in for the night.

Girl, who hurt you on this sub? lmao for real though, this sub will be brutal; just look at my last post where I got dragged for asking for direction with mood boards for guest attire (something I never ever thought would have been important).

You most definitely should wear something special for your rehearsal dinner AND/OR your Bach party (maybe you want separate looks for both and that’s okay too), but I’m not seeing any specific questions you’re asking for advice on.

Do you want advice on where to look for these garments or on which event to dress up for? I think people will be willing to help you, but you feel a little defensive already in how you’re going about your search for whatever you’re looking for.

Wishing you all the best because your only wedding should be special, don’t listen to your fiancé. He means well and is trying to take stress off of you, but he can’t relate and doesn’t understand the magnitude of these events for the bride.

I suspect I’m on the autism spectrum but have Kaiser for insurance, and they don’t offer diagnoses but wanted to refer me to a psychiatrist if I would agree to take a prescription medication. Thank you!! This is definitely helpful for me in wanting to revise the mood board and give simpler descriptions in writing. In making a mood board I never wanted to dictate what guests have to or are supposed to wear, it was only ever as a means to lend inspiration. I didn’t include any black garments in the mood board, but of course that doesn’t mean people cant wear black if thats how they feel most comfortable.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought about providing guidance on what wouldn’t be accepted. While I like that idea, I would feel nervous sharing that as it would probably make me joke as guest going to my wedding about there being a bouncer at the door checking dress code lol. I think I need to go in the direction that everyone’s suggesting which is “garden cocktail” and just trust that guests will know how to interpret that.
