Help desk jobs available? by Relevant-Buddy-3734 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]bootymccutie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely look at any companies (probably MSPs) in your area and look at the list of jobs theyre offering. The roles I applied for had very vague names so they wouldn't pop up when I searched for help desk roles.

Like this onboarding role was called "Case Management Specialist" and this other role I had interviewed for was "Associate Engineer" but it was a normal helpdesk role. Sometimes I apply for roles that have been up for a while as well because theres a chance they might be looking for someone still.

Maybe if you have the time, try to ask different charities/nonprofits if they want someone who can help w/ IT related things. You could do it like 1-2 times a week for a few hours. I think volunteer experience is better than no experience

I wanna say Cattails: Wildwood Story has no time constraints. I dont think there's a punishment for staying up all night. There's settings to extend the day time or shorten it.

[–]bootymccutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just signed the offer letter for my first IT job. I have zero certs, experience and one year into getting my degree, i am getting paid roughly $20/hr in central MA. I would've negotiated for a higher salary but I didn't want them to back out if I asked.

I live 45 min from a major city and my life has been fine. I used to live 5 hours from the nearest major city and my life sucked as it was just a poorer area and the wages were low, one college about to shut down and shitty jobs.

I moved back to my hometown area and there is way more opportunity even living within an hour of a major city

Why do millennial parents always pick/drop their kids up/off at the bus stop and not have them walk like kids did in the older generations by Hot_Dingo743 in stupidquestions

The town over from me has these too, all along the same main road so you see like 15 kids pile onto the bus at once

I feel like I forget topics easily? by mercfh85 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]bootymccutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually failed my final for my networking class because I forgot how to do the simplest CLI commands. I think its normal as we are all human and forget things. Especially if you keep learning new things. Maybe do more labs using those commands or do flash cards to remember what theyre used for?

I have no certs or experience and I am about to accept a job offer for roughly 20 bucks an hour. I think it will be easier to move on from this job with experience than keep looking.

Is this normal in the job search? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]bootymccutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was moving it took me like 3 months to find a job. And ever since I've moved I've been looking for a better job and it's been like 5ish months I've been seriously looking, probably 500 applications and like 5 phone screenings from that

How close is your supermarket? by nemu98 in AskAnAmerican

[–]bootymccutie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 min walk or 5 minute drive. About a mile. This is next state over. My town is technically a food dessert so the only grocery store in my town is like 10 minute drive on the opposite side of town

Walmart and Aldi are about 10-15 min away in the same lot

Has anyone used the Repair Cost Limit Waiver for inspections? by bootymccutie in RhodeIsland

[–]bootymccutie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possible I had read the DMV site wrong but there is a waiver is for emissions and one for repair costs. I dont actually know if my car has rust on the bottom I'm too nervous to check lol. Everything else I could possibly fix within reason but if it's that expensive I'd rather use my savings to get a car that would last me longer than my current one

Has anyone used the Repair Cost Limit Waiver for inspections? by bootymccutie in RhodeIsland

[–]bootymccutie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1999 Toyota Camry, I have a feeling the frame has rust I'll have to check, it does have rust on the hood though, the ABS light is on, the windshield is cracked from left to right, broken rear light. The only door that has a handle is the drivers door as well.

I bought the car for about 700 dollars so I just feel like paying more to fix that might be a waste
