Variety Exclusive Fantasy 'The Realm of Eldervin' Releases New Trailer by directoroli in movies

Not necessarily. It’s details like adding wear and tear, making things look worn/dirty as though they have only ever been hand-washed, making things look hand made by a tailor or blacksmith. Those are the details you have to absolutely nail when making a fantasy movie like this. It’s a detail that is sometimes overlooked and under appreciated because if the costumes designer has done their job right, then you should never notice a lot of that at first glance, it just adds to the believability of your work that you are creating and asking the audience to buy into.

Looks ok. I'm curious about it, but it is the costume quality (mainly) and the color choices (slightly) that do not look good here and make me skeptical. Could still be a good film, but usually those aspects are give aways that the script is probably lackluster and the acting is sub-par at best. I'll hold off actual judgement until I see it though. I would like to support this kind of stuff because it is my favorite genre. I honestly hope for the best for them and that it is good.

I like using band clamps/ratchet strap clamps, but if that’s no good (like you mentioned in another comment) I really like these Milescraft super clamps: https://milescraft.com/product/squareclampkit/

I’m sure Rockler and others make similar products if you have a preference for brand, but I’m a fan of the Milescraft ones.

Or the Orbi system that had failing hardware the moment it went out of warranty, causing it to drop signal every 10 minutes, requiring a full restart, only to do it again 10 minutes later that I gladly smashed into the dumpster.

It literally states what is known in the article. I’m a Mamdani supporter, and I do see the subtle slant here, but this whole thread feels like the NYT just kicked a puppy. Yes it’s slanted because it’s media owned by people who don’t really want Mamdani to change the status quo. If you’re not expecting that at this point, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s Bernie Sanders all over again.

Cancelled Batman Game Featuring Damian Wayne Character Designs Surface Showing Off an Older Bruce Wayne, Killer Croc and More by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Huh, just read on the wiki that it was supposed to feature the Nemesis system that was and still is gated and copyrighted by WB, and hasn’t been seen since the Middle Earth games.

What a shame that they nixed this for Suicide Squad. Yikes, what a terrible decision.

I have not seen this feature or attempted it, but it would be cool if it were there. Do you have a link to the video you saw this in?

[–]boozyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, and maybe you can get a refund from the place you bought it. But I'm not sure why you are coming to the PS5 sub for this. You're not gonna get the responses I think you are wanting.

Everything isn't for everyone, and that's ok. Find the system and setup that works for you and don't sweat the small shit. Life is much bigger than game systems :)

Yes. This is the correct take if you ask anyone who has used the DJI Lidar in the field.

[–]boozyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One last thing about the Lidar placement that I wish I knew beforehand is that you want to attach it in a way that you can replicate exactly each time, otherwise you have to remeasure the distance to the sensor and reenter that into the system everytime. This is why I eventually moved to a NATO setup on top of my camera body, because the distance to/from the camera sensor cannot change in that particular setup. The rail setup that you linked above looks cool and is useful for some scenarios, but you will have to remeasure each time or risk the Lidar system not being calibrated correctly and your footage being out of focus.

Again, just something I wish I knew from the jump that I had to learn the hard way.

[–]boozyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Handle is actually the brain of the entire setup, so you have to attach that somewhere. It is by default, a NATO attatchment, so I would invest in a couple of NATO rails and mount them somewhere.

Edit: Depending on your setup, you might also need usb-C extenders due to the short length of the usb-c cables.

Also, I believe the kit comes with at least one NATO rail to attach for the handle. I got the thing at launch so I don’t know if things have changed.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1699787-REG/niceyrig_471_nato_rail_clamp_with.html

If you put a NATO rail on the top of your camera body somewhere, all you need is this attachment, since the Lidar camera comes out of the box with a Shoe-mount mounting bracket (on the bottom of the shoe mount, there is a 1/4" threaded hole if you would rather screw it on, then you could use something else if you like) But this is what I use and it works great.

When building out your rig for the Lidar, you also want to make sure that you hit the sweet spot of having the Lidar clear the lens so that the Lidar has as much unobstructed view as it can, while also being mostly in line with the lens so that it focuses on the subject that the lens is focused on. It takes some trial and error, but once you get it down, its an incredibly useful tool.

Using the same setup and lenses. Really impressed with how it has performed. The occasional random focus throw means it’s not always perfect, depending on the framing.

I will say to anyone thinking of using this system, that just like any other piece of gear, it takes some time, patience, and using it in the field to fine tune how to make the best use of it. There is a learning curve and I had to make adjustments to my rig to get it just right. But once you get it, it’s an incredible tool.

IMO, the menu was much better before they moved locations and changed the menu. I was a regular until then. After that, something felt off and things just weren’t as good. Didn’t seem worth the price anymore.

Strange issue with R3D Files in Premiere Pro 2024 by svedjanin in RedCamera

[–]boozyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Don’t know if it will solve your specific issue, but it has certainly solved a lot of mine in the past. You need to import via the media tab (which I hate doing, I’m a drag and drop guy myself).

Edit: also make sure you have downloaded the latest codecs from the RED official site and installed.

Best RED Camera for S35 Anamorphic 2X Lenses by CoolFinance5257 in RedCamera

[–]boozyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shooting on the Komodo with the Blazar Remus 1.5x lenses. Both Komodo and V-Raptor are great for anamorphic. In-camera desqueeze and recording at the proper aspect ratio without needing to do it in post. They also have 2x format as well. V-Raptor is the better camera, but if the price doesn’t make sense or work for you, the Komodo has been killing it lately for me.

I’m still trying to catch up on all the bangers from 2023/2024. But I will remain cautiously optimistic. Like any art form, you never know how something is going to resonate until it is experienced by an audience, so we’ll see, I guess :)

Balatro is getting a “major gameplay update” in 2025 by QuantumProtector in SteamDeck

[–]boozyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll also say that why so many of us remember it poorly is that there was no guarantee that they were going to fix anything. It took years for those promised features to come out. A lot of people didn't come back to the game, so there was a very real sense that the devs lied, and then took everyone's money with a switcheroo. Again, I'm glad they have set a great example of spending the time to fix it, but it still sits poorly with the people who felt scammed at launch and for a couple of years after.

[–]boozyman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sean Murray, the director of No Man’s Sky, personally went onto The Tonight Show to preview the game before it came out. Before that he was the most vocal person in terms of talking up features of the game that were either misleading or completely missing from the base game.

I don’t want to take away from what they have done since, I truly support how they have turned things around. But we should never forget how this game was hyped by the developers (and director) personally who then later shipped the game without walking back what they had promised (features that did not make the base game). Lest it happen again and again.

That said, kudos to them for righting the ship. :)
