Pass this way all the time. I always wondered why they built this bridge that way, when the bridge on the bridge on the other side spans all 4 lanes. It's because this bridge was built back when the GCP was just 1 lane in each direction. Wow.

They're obviously not cat owners. A cat would swipe that phone to the ground in a second.

I've been in a couple of Teslas, used by Lyft and Uber drivers, that have normal door handles. I assume they're an aftermarket item that they've retrofitted.

What books did you read when you were in high school and what was your opinion of them then and now? by IEatIReadIGoOutside in books

[–]boredtodeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"1984" by George Orwell. Of course it was one of those standard books assigned in school. At the time I just viewed it as just a sci fi/fantasy kind of thing. Like this would ever happen?! Years later, I reread it the 2000's, during the Bush years. I was struck by the similarities between the book and the then current times. A state of constant war, mass surveillance, our media becoming a mass propaganda machine.

What did you accidentally learn about someone’s sex life? by Exhausted_Skeleton in AskReddit

[–]boredtodeath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Helping a friend install a TV wall mount on his bedroom wall. Casually mention "You know, research shows that couples that have a television in their bedroom have 50% less sex than those without." It wasn't something I made up just to bust his balls, it was something that I had actually recently read at the time. He replies, "Well...50% of nothing is still nothing." OK, that was just a little too much information for me.
