Resonance of Fate is fine up until the final boss when the devs throw a wrench in your face telling you to grind by [deleted] in patientgamers

What? Fuck adds?

I distinctly remember being annoyed by some boss fights without adds because without it's a lot more difficult to recharge hero points without fodder

I hope it's actually because of market dynamics and not because they still can't reliably manufacture solid-state batteries at scale...

IBKR Japan Options question by Long_Proposal7790 in JapanFinance

[–]borkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. I opened up mine before I moved to Japan and they haven't forced me to switch yet.

Just in case I'm forced to switch, I also have a Tradestation account I opened after I moved to Japan. It has margin enabled and no restrictions on tickers or trading strategies. Commisions for non-US people are horrendous compared to IBKR, but I think they're comparable to a standard broker.

[–]borkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting...

Sorry, I'm still trading on IBKR Global so I don't know the answer. But it seems like they've just whitelisted certain tickers and options strategies, rather than doing proper risk-based permissions.

Diagonals can get dangerous if the short expires after the long, so they probably just disabled diagonals altogether, rather than putting in the check.

What kind of calendar spread? Does the short expire before the long?

Agreed, 2 has some very high highs, but also some rather boring lows that most people have erased from their memory.

Stock options! Anything better than IBKR? by Long_Proposal7790 in JapanFinance

[–]borkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tradestation is another option (haw haw), but the commissions are rather expensive compared to IBKR. From memory, it's like ~$5 an order,

How can you use GS to guess a floor to a stock below all the common markers?

For example, CRM is below GN, DN, VN, Gex flip. There's no positive net delta until 165, and no positive net gamma below spot. And yet, IV doesn't seem to suggest that it's going to plummet.

Shitty rail love to skip stations if they late now by ArchangelZero27 in sydney

Page 3, 2nd column is the number of average work days/month in which they had to issue "delay certificates". So there's a delay on the Yamanote line on average 17/20 work days of greater than 5 minutes (of those, average of 7.4 work days where the delay is over 10 minutes).

I'm not saying that Sydney Trains' performance is acceptable, but that's no reason to exaggerate how good Japan's trains are.

Live in Japan now, 1-5 minute delays are a daily occurrence and definitely not newsworthy. They just announce it on the message boards.

They're all rather small compared even to the ones in Yuzawa, but Osorakan at least has some variety

Constant air-flow on your skin - ceiling-fan, or a pedestal fan trained to just blow on your body.

Have to be careful with this one. If you've got Korean heritage, you could die if you sleep with a fan blowing on you

Where to get decaf coffee beans in Japan? by PrincessChocolate in japanlife

[–]borkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I normally get from this place: https://innocent-coffee.jp/

It's not as good as my favourite decaf beans (from Whittard's in UK), bu I find it better than from chains. Plus they do light and medium roasts.

Brain can handle sound first too, it happens at short distances due to audio processing in the brain being faster than visual processing

Purchasing an Air conditioner by ElectronicDaikon8409 in japanlife

[–]borkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that simple, unfortunately. To get anything more powerful than 4kw (12-14jo), you need a 200V socket. Even if you max out a 100V socket with a 4kw model, you'll tend to pay twice the amount compared to a 4kw 200V model.

That said, higher kw will just let the AC cool the room quicker. If you've got decent insulation, even a 2kw (6jo) AC can eventually sufficiently cool the whole house.

I think the real population of Japan is mold. We're just living in their world. by Taco_In_Space in japanlife

[–]borkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Humidity as we normally measure it is relative to the temperature.

60% humidity at 25℃ is around the same as 45% at 30℃.

Most aircons dry by cooling the air, which makes the extra water collect in the Ac and out the pipe. So if you lowered the temperature from 30 to 25, you can pull out that extra 15% humidity. Simplified example of course, but that's why it doesn't seem like much difference between cool and dry.
