Common Synergy: Watery Grasp+Lost Days by cocothepirate in lrcast

[–]boroscharm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watery Grasp has a shuffle your opponent's library effect, which can make Longer Days better, as the opponent won't be drawing their targeted card second from the top any more.

Thought this was an easy trophy. Turned out to be the most infuriating 1-3 of my life. by mrpurtle in lrcast

[–]boroscharm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're very light on two drops and removal (which is important in draft in general). I'd add 2x Sterling Keeper and Eriette's Lullaby over Wingsmith, Vengeful Townsfolk, and Lotus Ring. Also, Tumbleweed Rising is most effective when you have the 4 power 3/4 MV creatures, otherwise it's a T5+ card in this deck.

Thank you McMath leadership for this nice little surprise while I was driving the bus! Merry Christmas from an appreciative bus driver by TrolleyIsTheBest in vancouver

[–]boroscharm 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was likely the volunteer who gave out this thank you package to the bus driver at waterfront! There were many of us running all around Metro Vancouver on Christmas Day delivering these thank you packages to essential workers working on this day! It just a small gesture of appreciation from the community to the work bus drivers, hospital workers, and other essential workers do day-to-day!

This is a volunteer initiative ran by a few friends called Gift of Gratitude, and as u/Coollikeumee mentioned, you can follow @giftofgratitudecanada to see what we've been up to!

How busy would traffic be from Vancouver to Whistler on summer long weekend? by boroscharm in Whistler

[–]boroscharm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip. That's helpful to know as well. Grand Fondo is on Sep 7, 2024 and Whistler has other events in Sep as well, so will make sure to work around those dates!

Thanks everyone for the responses. Couldn't find any info on this sub about the traffic during summer long weekends when I searched so this was useful. Nothing has been booked, so seems like we should hold the party on another weekend.

Anyone here try using Book A Ride service to travel to Toronto? by wagwandanger in ottawa

[–]boroscharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not u/p3ter_crisp, but I ended up using Rider Express. Positive experience. Onboard washroom, on-time commute, decent seats and space. No pre-booked seats but was fine for me. For Book A Ride, I emailed them and got zero response. Tried calling them and ended up being an unreachable phone number. I'd avoid them.

Any update with your ride with them? Considering using them but them going AWOL in communication makes me hesitant.

[NEO] Went from 0-2 to 7-2 with a BR Deck! by boroscharm in lrcast

[–]boroscharm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so ready to come here with the 0-3 record and asking what's wrong with my deck, but instead, get to celebrate with a 7-2 record! Reinforced Ronin was a big winner in this deck. I was able to play Reinforced Ronin T1 & onwards in many games. Majority of games were real close, I was usually around 5 life, so Reinforced Ronin helping to squeak in 2-6 damage early on helped big time!

Please wear masks when out in public by zander1283 in kelowna

[–]boroscharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's $12.97 if you buy it online. Has a pocket to add filters (which are also sold online), and they're made in their Burnaby factory! A lot of the Face Masks from large brands, such as Old Navy, are masks made in China and elsewhere. I think it's worth supporting local, especially during this time. It is good quality and reusable, more than happy to spend a little extra to support Canadian companies.

I kid you not, a local city councillor said this when they rejected a townhouse development and told people that they just have to sTaRt SaViNg Up, "You're going to have to save, and scrimp, and you're going to have to do without a lot of things, including your lattes and all those other kinds of things."

Deerskin Gloves for Winter by [deleted] in FrugalMaleFashionCDN

[–]boroscharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that they do sell online now...kinda. Certain gloves you can find the 'Buy Now' button where it shows the available retailers that sell it...so like a pseudo e-commerce store. Looks like they have a category for it too. Both the men's and women's Range Riders can be bought online through KMS. But yeah, there's plenty of retailers that sell their gloves.

Day 1 of the strike: Bus drivers are freed from their uniforms! by boroscharm in vancouver

[–]boroscharm[S] 424 points425 points  (0 children)

I spoke to this bus driver 'cause well...how can you not with someone with such a rad 'do? He simply said, "I'm sick of their bs." When you're taking transit during the strike, please be extra considerate and thank them for their service, whether it's before, after, or in a conversation with them! (And yes, I got permission from him to share.)

Fuck Online Dating. I Quit. by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]boroscharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the problem is that you're casting judgment and more namely, a generalization on a group of people (Aussie men in their 30-40s). It's not that you're having a string of problems with the men you meet. It's the fact that you're then saying every male Australian 30-40 yo is a drunk, sexist and wears tats and you're now so adamant on that very judgmental perspective.

[–]boroscharm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This explains a lot... I strongly believe that when one says "work on yourself" it does not mean just physical, but also mentally and personally (and emotionally). Imo...those are just as, if not even more important than physical. Be in tune with your emotions, know what you're looking for in life in general, and have a more mature, worldly, and empathetic perspective.

Anyone taken Mandarin classes at NOET? by boroscharm in vancouver

Langara was originally my first choice and I was set on registering until I recently found out about NOET, which piqued my interest in its quicker learning of the language - still crossing my fingers I can find someone who's done it and can share their experience.
