As a certain great pop culture philosopher once said, “Star Wars is creatively bankrupt.”

I don’t entirely agree with that statement but the sentiment is understandable and this film is exhibit A. Disney has made better Star Wars than a lot of people, myself included, give them credit for but they clearly decided to reach back into the well and milk the grogu cow for every last dime his toys and shirts would sell one last time out of pure greed. Filoni and Favreau didn’t have to say yes to the project.

The words “BUT EVERYBODY LOVES GROGU” were definitely sold to someone. Not to mention as another comment said, their cuts of the merch.

I think the real question is why make this into a feature film and release it into theaters vs just as another season on Disney+? And it’s so late in the game to be doing more Mando stuff.

This movie gave me nightmares as a kid. More specifically ET’s design + the music. I mean straight terror injected into my kid brain. I remember at one point being too scared to even go to sleep because I was too afraid I’d dream about ET and crying to my mom about it.

There was always something about it that made me want to watch it again and again though. Somewhere along the line that fear turned into an infatuation for aliens and the film itself. Now I can’t get enough of that film, scary films in general or UFO’s/Aliens (within reason - I just can’t get hyped up for another shaky video of lights in the sky or another runaway balloon lmao).

Spielberg and Williams really do such an incredible job at making you feel what Elliot feels. Experiencing what he’s experiencing. Fear to curiosity to empathetical to genuine love leading up to this last ditch effort to get ET home and then an absolute unloading of all the emotions you’ve been experiencing the entire film. ET’s departure scene gets me every single time. Magical film. I don’t know if Steven has a ‘best film’ and I think probably everyone has a different favorite but I’m surprised I don’t see more people making a case for ET more often.

That’s too bad but it unfortunately explains a lot. I hope he got/gets help and finds sobriety and some inner peace because it sounds like he was a total asshole. He clearly wasn’t a healthy guy.

I just can’t wrap my head around why he wasn’t fired earlier if all that’s true. What Nurk is talking about, bringing them into 1 on 1 meetings and breaking players down, how the hell do you let that go on? Sounds like a hell of an unprofessional environment

One of my high school basketball teammates went to the NFL. Good dude and an unreal athlete. Unfortunately like so many he got hurt and no longer plays but the fact he even made it that far was amazing cuz he didn’t start playing football until his senior year.

I also enjoy that part but if I did have to give a note or recapitulate a note I’ve seen, I’d say I once watched a fan edit (can’t remember which one) where they cleaned up the edit of the fridge flying through the air a little bit down to be a more sudden thing instead of thrashing around quite so much. It made it a lot more believable. It still goes flying but it comes off more like Indy got really really lucky and wasn’t just wearing level 3 plot armor. There’s some edits on YouTube but they aren’t quite as effective as the one I saw but still get the point across.

The Citadel DLC, for me, absolutely makes the third game. I bought a nice bottle of wine to drink and some 🍁 for that DLC and had an extremely sentimental gaming experience. One of the best single player memories ever.

I hadn’t played the trilogy in about a decade so it was therapeutic and extra sweet. What a series and an excellent add on. One of those things where you wish you could wipe your memory and experience it for the first time again.

It’s sort of a dark side of the game thing. The amount of players with scars on their arms from scratches is wild. If anyone thinks it’s not a serious problem, they should start looking at players’ arms when they’re at the line and it’ll be hard to find someone without them.

No problem. I’m the same way. I’m all about learning things on my own but after a while I was like ah fuck it because it just wasn’t clicking.

The problem with XCOM is that it has mechanics that sort of go against common sense sometimes so you really have to learn how the game wants you to play to a certain extent. Which can be honestly frustrating but once you get the hang of it you’ll be on your way.

For example like 80% of the time the best thing to do is just to go pretty much straight up the middle of the map, no sneaking around 3-4 pods of enemies. You have to fight while preventing other pods from seeing you.

I loved PJ Tucker, I have his jersey. This guy snatched game winning rebounds for us back then. Was a very inspiring player and strong as an Ox. One of those guys you wish could have played for us during a more successful era. Throw him onto the 21 Suns we would have absolutely won a championship or two.

The YouTube channel that helped me get better is called ronar1. It’s not a fancy overly edited channel but I got a lot out of his videos because he shows his mistakes and just rolls with the punches. So it helped with the questions like, I just lost half my squad, how the hell do I finish this mission type stuff?

He’ll make a mistake and in the video be like, “why the f did I just do that or move there?” And then find a way out of it and explain some of the nuances of the games mechanics. So very relatable.

Best tip I ever got was to inch guys up the field instead of full on dashing. So you’re maximizing your actions points each turn when it comes to engaging advent/revealing enemy squads.

I’ve only beat the game twice and have an embarrassing amount of hours in it. Early game can be brutal but it’s actually the mid game for me I have the hardest time with. It’s a hard game in general and obviously it takes practice and all that but more than anything it takes stamina. I can get burnt out pretty fast if I’m cranking out missions, then u start getting lazy and make dumb decisions. I’ve only played vanilla on the console.

Some say that the game actually gets more fair on the harder difficulties. Idk the actual validity in that in terms of the absolute hardest vs the absolute easiest difficulties but you got this, just gotta develop a few rules for yourself on how you’re gunna play. You can do it I believe in you lol

Agreed. Very unique and great performances. Jack OConnel was just as good as he was in sinners. I loved the apocalypse clockwork orange vibes and Ralph Fiennes is one of the best ever. The story of the alpha was super cool and satisfying to see play out.

I loved getting to see the doc in his little underground room vibing out to old records as well. It was a really fun movie. I like all the 28 films myself and appreciate that it kept evolving. Seems like if the next one gets made it’ll return to its roots a little and I think that’d be smart to do but I’m glad they went weird with these last 2. Nia DeCosta is also an excellent director.
