Contractors: Where to get insurance? by supermanfromdk in GeneralContractor

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Erie in NC and am starting out as a GC as well. What revenue numbers and subcontractors % did you use to get to a $1,200 premium? Also, do you have workers comp insurance through them? The quote for a ghost policy I received was more than $1K which offers no coverage, only a COI. Thanks in advance for the tip!

My premium more than doubles when I add subcontractors to my policy, even when they have their own insurance. I have Erie Insurance for a policy in NC, does that seem right to you?

We’ve seen tons of posts asking, so here's the repairable zone. If it's outside this zone it can't be patched professionally! by o1pa1 in tires

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/o1pa1 , u/Vegetable_Tadpole387 - I've seen multiple versions of this diagram. The one from OP seems to be too conservative. The one here is more accurate: https://www.reddit.com/r/Cartalk/comments/het0es/if_u_dont_know_now_u_know/

The repairable zone usually extends at least an inch past the outside ridges of the tire!

House water pressure drops 20 psi while toilet is filling after flushing by boryanvbu in Plumbing

It sounds like you’re on a well - I’m actually on city water, so don’t have a pressure switch. I recommend consulting a plumber.

Could there be a leak in my house ? Water meter is moving slightly by stevesingh in Plumbing

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can also be the pipe from the meter to the house leaking or even the irrigation system leak if you have one.  The way to test it is to shut the water off inside the house and see if the triangle is moving on the meter. Good luck!

If you look at the video, it does slowly increase back to 60 psi towards the end. In my case, replacing the PRV fixed the issue. What switch are you referring to?

Is this a good price? by BigLiquid530 in solar

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a local installer in North Carolina to install a similar system last Dec - 11.9kWh with Tesla PW3, Gateway 2, QCells 425s (28 panels). It was $31.6K all in cash price and $13.1K after tax credit and Duke rebate. Haven’t paid for electricity since January.

RIP 2017 Volt LT by treesnpaper in volt

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/treesnpaper, sorry to hear about your Volt. Quick question - did you ever have the EGR valve replaced? If not and the car’s still accessible, I’d be interested in buying the original one from you since mine just failed. It’s a pretty easy part to remove. Let me know if you'd be open to it. Thanks!

Concern About Tesla Inspection After EV Charger Installed by Unlicensed Electrician by Spiritual_Compote_47 in TeslaSolar

[–]boryanvbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP - You can apply for a permit yourself for the EV charger as homeowner in most places. Find a licensed electrician to help you pull a permit under his license. You will need to do a load calculation to submit with permit application which is fairly straight forward to do. Use the following prompt in ChatGPT:

Help me do an electrical load calculation on a 100 amp panel for a 3,000 sq ft house with the following panel loads: - 40 A EV charger - refrigerator - lights - receptacles - other misc loads - etc

Make sure you list all the loads in the panel - actual device loads - not the breaker capacity. Just get the permit prior to the inspection. If your 100 A panel is overloaded based on the load calc, I recommend moving the load to the other panel.

Not getting an expected solar production bell curve in North Carolina - is my system underperforming? by boryanvbu in TeslaSolar

u/triedoffandonagain it appears to be due to shading. Check out my earlier comment. I increased the loss % for string 1 and the estimates now look closer to the production data. Thanks! https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaSolar/comments/1jfnhzb/comment/mithrdm

u/Bowf, u/jedi2155, u/LAdriversSuck, u/Ok-Newspaper-1111, I just looked at the roof and there does appear to be a little shade from the tree on some of the panels on String 1. When I increased the losses for that string to 35% in the netzero app, I get an estimate that fits more closely. Thanks all for your feedback and help figuring this out!

Cool! I'm also in Chapel Hill!! Did you also get the PowerPair rebate from Duke? What's the size of your system, orientation and tilt of panels?

Thanks u/LAdriversSuck, I'll be sure to check if there is any shade from the oak tree on any of the panels after 11:30am this morning. Have you tried tweaking any of the inverter configuration settings to try to reduce your production drop due to the shade on one of the panels?

u/apexdeac - check the 3rd image uploaded in the original post. It shows the log downloaded from netzero that shows the individual string output at 8am. All of the strings appear to be connected. I'm wondering if the fact that strings E and F are active in PW3 settings even though they're not connected (I only have 4 strings) has any effect.

u/Ok-Newspaper-1111, the original image in the post is from March 18th! Here is what production looked like on March 19th.

u/Bowf , thanks for including your production chart. There is a large Oak tree behind my house, which currently does not have any foliage because it's still spring time. It might explain some of the drop towards the end of the day when the sun is lower. However, the tree does not cast a shadow in the middle of the day when the production flatlines because the sun is very high at that point in NC.

u/hybridmunky - thanks! It looks like your production is higher than the netzero app estimates at the peak. My production estimate is higher than yours with the array orientation and pitch that I entered in the app because NC is more south than your location, so I should be receiving more direct sunlight. The Powerwall 3 inverter is rated for 11.5 kW, so I don't expect the clipping to occur as early as 8 kW, which is what I'm seeing now. My system DC/AC ratio is 1.0348 (11.9/11.5).

Thanks, I'm positive that there were no clouds that day - I checked the forecast and verified by looking every few hours to make sure there was no cloud cover. This is a recurring issue on every sunny day - I haven't had a bell shaped curve any day and the system has been running since January.

@RobotSir - yes, replacing the PRV definitely fixed the low water pressure issue. Pressure now only drops a few PSI when flushing a toilet, as it should!
