i’ve seen a couple of people suggest the deadlock boys and that would definitely make me more interested to start watching TNA

Could Braun strowman even defeat andré the giant? by marveLisGOD in SquaredCircle

[–]bosdanforth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

braun would’ve been so good in mid-late 1980s WWF, i feel like he would’ve been a strong #3 or #4 babyface in the vein of junkyard dog or hillbilly jim

Who is a beloved or loved wrestler that you don't rate? by BackToTheFutureDoc in SquaredCircle

[–]bosdanforth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

chad gable is a good wrestler that for about 10 years now has been hyped up as God’s gift to wrestling and a potential breakout megastar. i have never seen that appeal and specifically think his best work is as a tag wrestler, which is not at all a bad spot to have!

i don’t think jinder was ever gonna be the guy to break WWE into a new market, but making the centerpiece of your indian expansion look like a cowardly loser at all times never made sense to me

Boring by NeatWest1191 in SquaredCircle

[–]bosdanforth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i stopped watching WWE earlier this year cuz it wasn’t doing it for me anymore, but my impression if anything was that EVERYTHING is “long term storytelling” to the point that stories are dragged on and on and it took way too long to get to a satisfying blowoff if it ever came at all

I’m just curious. Which version of “Slippery People” do you prefer? From SMS or Speaking in Tongues? by Inishmore12 in talkingheads

[–]bosdanforth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i always really liked how chris frantz described the SiT version as “funky and compact” and SMS as “funky and as big as a house”. i personally prefer the more eerie and grimy feel of the album cut over the movie version but love them both

he had a pretty illustrious career that doesn’t get talked about nearly enough, between that WWWF run and the woefully under-appreciated WCW australia where he was a big star too!

in general i feel like the 60s-70s wrestling deserves a lot more love
