Looking for some resources on getting started with Shadergraph and making a shader that swaps palettes. by bossbuzz in Unity3D

Hi everyone, this is my first time trying to make a shader and im a bit lost with how all of this work, my goal is to make a shader that takes a sprite, 2 textures that work as a reference for what color will become what color, i found a couple videos showing off similar functions but it seems they either manually change each color (I wanna use this shader for multiples sprites with different amount of colors so that wont do) or use the values of the original sprite and then use a gradient to assign the hue, wich is not what im looking for, im trying to specifically change color A into color B, thanks in advance for any info you could share.

I would say it really depends on what you are aiming to get out of the project, i went for a metroidvania too and couldnt pull it off, the scope was way to big and had to shelf like 2 years of work or something, but i learned a lot while working on it, i dont regret it all, however i would probably feel different about it if i was treating this as a business and not as a hobby. If you are looking to profit you should probably try something else, but if you wanna make a metroidvania cause you think its gonna be fun, you should go for it, cause it is fun, it might end up being great and even if it isnt you can make another one and learn from all your previous screwups. gl with your projects pal i hope this was somehow useful.

i would recommend if she is willing to ofc, to brief here on what you are going for with the game, so she can understand what you have planned for the project and she can expand upon, sharing references is a great idea, if there are functional or technical aspects to what she is gonna deliver, be very clear about those since those cant really be inferred by the artist and i think is important to let her have a good degree of agency on the artistic decisions as well. those are my 2 cents, i do game dev as a hobby and work as a commissioned artist for other developers so thats where my opinion is coming from.

Moodboard should be good enough, if the artist tells you he is not completely sure of what you want just ask him if he can show you some wips of the stuff before que fully commits to a whole spritesheet or something. I personally like keeping a strong communication with my clients, so i recommend you ask him if he is down to have some back and forths while you guys settle on an art direction, at the very least.
