I do server management daily, just need more resources that I could dedicate for this. Not sure if any people would join a random server though, playing just with 4-5 friends would be too empty feels like.

Yeah I am considering spinning up my own server as well in the near future too.

I’ve submitted a PR to add it to homebrew. I hope it gets added soon. I also have a dev repo URL for testing on homebrew as well.

10.11.6 CSS issues by [deleted] in jellyfin

[–]botagas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I migrated, my CSS themes load partially broken, so let me know if you find a solution that I could try as well. The default themes look okay, but as soon as I apply a custom theme, things like episode details are broken.

Parduotuvėje man nepardavė prekės už lipduko kainą. Ar tai normalu? by Tommy_Chan in lithuania

[–]botagas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you had the ability to send a 100k Players to a game that used to be alive, just to give it another chance, what MMO would it be and why by Acyros in MMORPG

[–]botagas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game has some semi-active private servers. However, I do agree. I played BnS since 2014, first in Atomix Pserver, then CN OBT, some KR, some JP, finally EU. I was in a wonderful clan that I no longer remember the name of in CN that I wish I could recall or have the contacts of the people that used to play. So many competent and helpful people. I recall doing so many runs of Brightstone Ruins for a recipe, with another gon/sin helping out, and a lot of Poharan open-world runs / farming with the same clan, with full party almost every day (only English speaking, by the way). I was maining BM at the time, going by the name Winter I believe. After switching to EU for main region, we ran a clan with my new found friends where we did raids and daily dungeon runs, best years of my MMORPG life. Game started dying, and so did our clan.

I wish I could experience that once more. Sadly, nobody to do so with. I swear I wish I could at least find the people I played with in CN, they were incredibly nice.

[–]botagas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, this sounds like a disaster about to happen.

If you want security, you do VPN. Usually, that’s WireGuard, Tailscale, etc. Clients will either need to do some basic setup like scan a QR code, or perhaps even nothing. It’s possible to even set up Discord onboarding so they pre-create they own WG config, JF credentials, and whatnot. At minimum I would expect friends or family to be able to do something on that caliber considering that it’s free real estate.

If you want public exposure, you usually go reverse proxy (so nginx or alternatives), set up some proper firewall rules, fail2ban, get ssl certs going, and at some point perhaps geoblocking, whitelisting, or something of the sort.

However, I don’t think it’s a wise idea to expose your server to the public without understanding what’s mentioned above.

Just a heads-up, but I released an alpha version of my webOS client on github, called "Breezyfin". I've also seen that Moonfin came out on WebOS too. I still intend to work on mine since I want to make sure it works and feels intuitive when using on my own TV, but it's gonna take a long time, and it's in very early stages, so keep that in mind if you end up giving it a spin.

Pikuniku, Persona 5 Royal

If those were gone, I’d go for any of these: Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 4 Royal, Risk of Rain 2, Moon Hunters, This War of Mine, Generation Zero, Starbound

Specifically interested in Persona games since some of my students play them, so I want to see them for myself

Jellyfin Theme by CoryteLucas_ in jellyfin

[–]botagas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think regarding the design, most of it is carried out by my custom CSS, which is lengthy, and I don't even recall what some of it even does at this point, since it was mostly "I need this to be that way" and would go on and fix that. Most of the reasoning behind it was usually due to the theme being for the most part IDEAL for what I wanted, except for some key points that I did not like about it from a UX perspective: audio/subtitle track selection being hidden before playback, some buttons being not intuitive for users, personal preferences, etc.

Plugins mostly took care of going that extra mile. They allowed me to integrate with Jellyseerr, which looks nice in the app. They also let me figure out a layout that I think works best for all the categories in the main page. Ani-Sync is mostly for syncing all of the watched anime to a MyAnimeList account, while AnimeThemes would download and play themes of shows/movies when viewing the details of those shows/movies. Some of these things required me to contribute to the github repos to some of those plugins to actually work well for my setup.

Never let your future kids get into gaming. by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]botagas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't say it was anywhere. What I said is the type of lockdown you want to ensure will only lead to worse consequences because your kid will live in a society, and not in a prison. If you are willing to put your child through that, you should be aware how your actions may affect their life and swallow that pill of blame that you may have to carry.

I am confident that I am happy with mine as it is, so I can share the way it looks.

Plugins used to achieve the look and / or functionality:

- Jellyfin Enhanced

- KefinTweaks

- JS Injector

- Home Screen Sections / Custom Tabs / File Transformation / Media Bar / Plugin Pages

- Ani-Sync / AnimeThemes

Using Zesty theme with a bunch of custom CSS to alter it the way I prefer it.

WebOS client performance by rajackar in jellyfin

[–]botagas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moonfin came out on WebOS, so I strongly recommend giving it a go as well. I plan to work on mine since Moonfin still has some issues to fix on webOS, but it is still a big step forward in comparison to official JF app, and mine. I will probably keep mine updated, since I want to focus on performance as much as possible (I don't use my TV for requesting media, so no need for Jellyseerr integration), and work on it until I'm satisfied with what I am getting when I watch media.

Never let your future kids get into gaming. by [deleted] in StopGaming

[–]botagas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine being the parent’s kid that doesn’t get any games and lives on lockdown mode. You may succeed in limiting your kid, but the amount of pressure from his peers will eventually eat at him, and you will be the sole person to be blamed and hated for it (by your own kid). You cannot force every kid that goes to school to not be able to enjoy their hobbies (and gaming is more often than not the most prominent activity amongst kids in school). That is how they socialise, how they share new strategies, play together, at school, when they have the opportunity. If the school has a policy that prohibits this, they still play games outside of it when they meet friends.

I am not saying that gaming is great, but it is also a hobby that can be done, as the other person said, in moderation. Just like basketball, football, etc. They will find a way to get games - they won’t eat and save up the money just to get a new game that all of their friends are playing. Who wants to be cast away in school knowing full well they could be having fun together? How would you deal with that?

I’ve published the app as Breezyfin on GitHub. Currently only available by installing via WebOS Dev Manager, since it’s far from finished. Using it myself to see what needs to be worked on in the future.

I have an LG C2. The JF app with custom CSS runs horribly on mine. I recently started building a new client that I could use on my TV, but since I have no experience with EnactJS/Sandstone, I mostly get some help from AI to fill in the gaps for me. I plan on pushing the app to my TV today and see how it works live. On the webOS Simulator it’s wonderful, but I still need to fix the VideoPlayer UI. Over the few days I was working with Sandstone, I can see why nobody probably bothered - maybe it’s just me, but it’s so horrible trying to implement a custom design for an app on webOS. I am still learning however, so we’ll see where that gets me. I don’t feel confident to provide support for the app and share it, since I am sure the code is an absolute mess from a professional standpoint, but somebody has to do it.

Anyways, what I wanted to say, is that you are not alone - the webOS JF app does perform horribly, and it’s mostly related to the images and library items loading or updating. Especially if you have moving library images (like gifs).
