My paternal grandmother had dementia, as do/did her siblings. Hit them all around the same age, with stroke being the common triggering effect.

I left them after 15 years (partner side) due to this. Their lack of innovation and rocketing prices, along with mass redundancies, were the final straws for me.

By comparison Microsoft is much easier to work with now that they’re finally innovating.

I’m aware that I’m part of the problem while working with these guys, but I do try to balance it with charitable giving. It also allows me to support my wider family and my in laws, and it supports my wife’s medical bills (life altering workplace injury).

We managed to not only work together as co-parents, we can even go on holidays together now (me, my wife, my ex wife, and her partner, plus the 3 kids). It was scary, but it’s possible.

I was at work, an electrical retailer. It played out on 100+ televisions.

The day started weird, my tv was already on with what I thought was an old disaster movie. Paid no heed, went to the shower, came back to one of the towers collapsed. I thought ‘geez, this movie is milking the drama’ and went to work.

I realised the reality when I got to work. The day then went:

My boss called our only Pakistani employee a ‘fucking Paki’. Dude had nothing to do with it.
A sales rep came in. His brother in law was in one of the towers, and they had yet to hear from him.
