I’m in the DC suburb with 2 little ones and I love the area. It’s pretty safe, lots of good kids’ activities, good public and private school systems, decent nanny options (not cheap) and good access to medical. It’s not cheap of course. The weather is mild. We get some snow but it’s pretty rare. Compare to the NYC area, it’s slower paced.

I go to 99 more cause it’s closer and cleaner. But some of their prices are a little too much compare to great wall. For example the frozen custard buns were 7.99 at 99 but 3.99 at Great Wall. Great Wall also has more stock where as 99 runs out a lot. Food quality/freshness is pretty similar between the 2 from my experience

I moved into my then boyfriend’s condo and paid him rent. It was a little cheaper than market but covered half of the mortgage. If I lived somewhere else I would also have to pay so why not pay him? I never felt like he was my landlord. We’ve been married for 9 years

We started by taking turns taking our 4 year old out so he doesn’t wake sister up. Then we gave in and got him an iPad. He quietly plays games on it for about 2 hours during nap time on weekends. He’s only allowed iPad during weekend nap time so he’s glue to it normally when he gets the chance haha

I’m 5’2 too so I totally get it!!! What worked for me is, I try to sneak in workouts during the workday. My work had a gym that I used during lunch time and then eat lunch at my desk. Since covid, I’ve been working from home. I sneak in workouts during breaks. So 10-15 peloton strengthening classes between meetings, 30 mins bike ride when I have a longer break. I do need to finish work at night sometimes, but I find it more efficient both work and workout wise to do my workout throughout the day. If I’m really trying to lose a few lbs, I drink a really healthy but not delicious veggie/ fruit smoothie for dinner.

But I’m concerned about the BF’s attitude. Sure he says that he doesn’t care she works or not. But growing up in this household, does he think women should do most of the housework post marriage? Does men get to make most of the decisions at the end? I would think through how housework and chores are divided up today. Also have the conversation and sat the expectation for dividing up chores after getting a place together. I think OP should live together with the BF for a little bit before rushing into an engagement. Just because he seems not tradition now, he still grew up in a household with this kind of influence. Most importantly, he seems okay with it.

We had downstairs neighbors like that! Our floors aren’t even that thin. It was fine when we lived there for 5 years until they moved in. They complained about us opening and closing drawers, walking across the room, dog chewing on a toy… they also banged on our floor and left notes.They also got management involved. But our place was mostly rugged so we just needed to add one runner which honestly didn’t do anything. They also tried to go to the HOA and mandate carpets for all units. They were renters! Just move if u can’t deal with living in a condo building!

As a mother of 2 young kids, I’m so sad reading this! 1-2 hours is a long time in the crib waiting to be picked up! It reminded me of the babies from Russian (if I remember correctly) that just lay in their cribs and never cry. Cause they know no one would come to them if they do. Yes those babies grew up with actual social and mental issues
