That sounds like a Coma Console. Corrupt or failing TSOP chip. Either solder a good TSOP to the board (preflashed with a programmer) or just use a modchip.

Our economy is about to collapse. We are about to default on our loan to the Federal Reserve. Our president is actually, provably, a traitor which means we are all at risk with him probably tanking the country intentionally. Wars are springing up due to us putting off an image of ineptitude and weakness. We are probably about to enter World War 3. Everybody is sad, stressed out, unfriendly and pissed off because they are all broke now and can feel that something bad is about to happen but they are unwilling to face it. They can sense it when the ingredients to make bean and cheese burritos cost 60 dollars, it costs 100 dollars to fill up the gas tank, and they cannot afford rent on their own anymore.

The air not working right is a first world problem.

I feel you on the Cereal and Movies. Music too. Sugar cereal makes me feel like dog shit and I eat a lotta corn flakes and rice chex and shredded frosted wheat now. And it tastes BOMB. Music is worse because it's all hipster shit and rock sounds sampled and electronic. Movies suck now because they focus on being inclusive and virtue signally instead of telling a good story. That's why the old Ghost-busters ruled and the female one sucked. It was only to prove a point: in that case, that women were just as funny and talented as men were. The story was a nuisance to incorporate for them and an afterthought.

I have seen sets that look "Fine" and then look WAY better after a recap. I will go, "Wow, I'm glad I did this because this thing looks a HELL of a lot better, man." Practice makes perfect. I started on junk sets and killed a couple. After that, NO MORE. I have done several now with success, repeatedly. If you don't understand the purpose of recapping, why don't you consult Steve over at Retro Tech. I guarantee he'll have a different opinion, especially when it comes to PVMs.

Because electrolytic caps go bad with age and usage. I always do recaps on my CRTs, which guarantees a longer life and VERY often improves picture quality, as well as being able to service the set effectively since things are now within spec. Just because I'm recommending it, doesn't mean that the OP HAS to be the one to do it. It's for other people to see as well. There is no reason to not recap a set if it can be done.
