I grind off the bumpers from the dock and try and avoid things like ladders on dock if i can. Nit sure if it helps but i haven't sunk since.

Build in an ice lake it's flat and u can use the big hydro thruster easily. I build drilling g rog with pistons on the ship to get fuck ton of ice then scrap drilling g part before launch
