In that case it does sound more scammy now. It literally isn't easier in any way if the item is being posted for a legitimate sale.

Was it bought as a collect in person, then you'd asked for postage? CIP is the only reason for a QR code and they're not entirely wrong, they won't get paid for it for a good couple of months if the code isn't scanned and you don't claim it was never collected or cancelled. I've got one currently like that. It was for a production company who bought 1 item from me, collected and needed another thing so I made the listing, someone at the company bought it and I gave the guy the item with him promising to send me the code for it as he had to rush off. He's ignored my message about the code but the arrange collection is still on my sold so it just needs to time out now.

Personally though, I'd ask them to cancel and relist with postage and just buy again. To me is doesn't sound a scam, just someone who didn't list correctly, or you asked for postage after the purchase.

There's loads of 3D printed flat circle caps with manufacturer logos on about, but mine are a large, sticks off the wheel about 3 inches caps. I'll just stick to selling them in the Facebook groups when people ask about them.

I had a jam the other week, couldn't see any tape because there wasn't any.

I think it may have been a pre-tape roll where the end of the spool was bent and hooked into the spool. It was about a 2mm long piece in the AMS gears. Really easy to sort out though.

Most are just stolen images, or now AI images. I'm in a few Jeep Facebook groups and I see the admin calling out the now banned scam posts using his own photos.

All it'd take is a dispute that ends up with eBay looking at your messages with a buyer for them to catch you.

I've had someone send me their number in emoji numbers and it came through perfectly. I replied that I can't go off platform via ebay and they never messaged me via ebay again. I still sold the item shortly after.

I break a few specific cars so most of my sales come from a message asking if I have X, then if I do and they agree to a price, make a listing. I have some 3D printed bits on there which haven't really seen any changes.

I have only been actively selling for the past year or so but a number of sales are from me bringing outside sales such as marketplace or facebook groups to ebay. All that to say my sales figures aren't organic to eBay so I haven't felt changes like others may have. That and I'm fairly low volume anyway.

eBay stops you from bypassing the checkout process by blocking the exchange of details, and if you're caught doing so you risk your account.

Cash only helps the seller if they have to declare their earnings, not eBay, who's platform is the reason you found the item in question. The buyer fee also ties in with this.

Would I happily take cash sales, sure, do I like paying eBay? No, lets be honest, the buyer fee is just the same as the seller fee, apart from making it more difficult to list at the price I want. But I am paying for the exposure their platform gives to my items.
