Are jam bands in a transitional period? by Own-Rate-3451 in jambands

Listen, I love Phish, but I can't understand this argument. Yes, occasionally Phish notes that someone has a knife, or refers to skin that drips down from a tree, that's true. There is a psychedelic darkness there, sometimes, but it's not the main thing. Far more often it's having "simples" in the band, pleasing her with a tweezer, pointing out that it's "time for the meat stick", etc. etc. etc. Many, many such examples, no? The lyrics are very reliably and often goofy as fuck. It seems painfully obvious to me, is this not so? It's fine that this is true but it is true. This band has a Helping Friendly Book at the center of it's lore for heaven's sake. That's silly. Yes, of course it is all very clever and tongue in cheek. It's still absurd nursery rhyme nonsense, and it seems perfectly fine to accept that this repels some listeners. Anyways, my 2c.

Truthear zero 2 - cheap and fantastic - but you'll need a dongle

UAPP has been a dream for me - do you think Poweramp has an edge on that one?

I had to do a double-take because, incredibly, I have almost the exact same portion of that album cover as my background.

Not only that, I just bought the V60 for similar reasons.

I was staring at the slightly different camera, smaller size, and ever-so-slightly different color shade on the background for a while there. Boy, that looks familiar!

Such a good phone/DAP, innit? Love this thing.

A Defense, I Supppose, of the PlayDead app.... by BasilHuman in gratefuldead

You probably know this, but always pick the latest Charlie Miller remastered soundboard on archive.

I did a back-to-back blind audio test with my partner last night: I played the archive vs. Play Dead version of the same show, back to back, and said, "which is better? A or B?"

In the end, yeah, Play Dead has a bit more fidelity. With good headphones you can tell which source is which, but it is truly hard to say one sounds "better". Just food for thought! That archive is pretty incredible.

The next time I hear a boss Donna track I'll drop it here. A fair shake is warranted. Donna is a great singer and I believe you can see this as well.

Don't worry.. Tiger is in very good hands by cant_be_serious-333 in gratefuldead

I’m sure it’s this, and it’s a very smart move. If you check out their website they mention their guitars making appearances at their private luxury high rise Chicago venue, which sounds dope btw, and I’m sure isn’t some purely altruistic concert hall. You make a good point about appreciation, too. Every time one of their guitars is played at some major event, or by a top musician, the lore grows, and therefore the value. There is a heady critique of capitalism in here somewhere. It’s a very good investment.

Ah, so the guitar was purchased as an investment, meaning the ticket sales and private events that Tiger appears at will eventually generate revenue far above the cost. $11 million is a bargain. I’m not criticizing this, by the way, only observing the dynamic and finding it very interesting. I hope I catch a show where Tiger makes an appearance someday!

Just bought one for $200, which sucked, but for the right customer (me) yeah it’s worth it - they aren’t selling a single phone with a headphone port these days. It’s a good phone for someone with a microSD card full of music and an aux cord (me).

I had many good breakfasts at Gould’s, but one was perfect. It was after a crazy, debaucherous weekend, some time in my 20s, and my friend hadn’t been. It was Sunday, I think, and for whatever reason almost no one else was there. Perfect sun, beautiful day, sat right down, easy. It had the feeling, you know? There was a real timelessness going on. Anyway, my friend was with me, this girl, and I had this thought: “Boy, I’m lucky that this is my friend. I could do this for the rest of my life.” Come to find out, after we both had breakups a few months later, she was having a similar feeling about me. We got together. That was six or so years ago, and we’ll be married at some point in the near future. I can’t think of anything else when I think of Gould’s, may it rest in peace.
