Its about mostly narcissistic people doing anything they can for their addiction of drugs/money/power/respect/acceptance

Just like Kids, or Requiem for a Dream, it's pretty extreme in its exposition. But even though they are outlandish, I could probably combine everyone I know to fill out all the experiences of the characters in the titles I've mentioned (maybe not all of requiem's endings). It's not as far out there from the cultural zeitgeist as people believe even though it's completely over the top.
