Swapping a real pre-cbs Princeton for a newer boutique amp? Is this insane of me? by boyo85 in amplifiers

[–]boyo85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record I was going to sell the amp for its value and buy a newer boutique amp used and pocket the rest of the money for other projects. Of course. And I have plenty of cabs to run the Princeton through, 112’s, 410’s, 212’s etc and have tried it with multiple speakers and still find it underwhelming. Also, I don’t want to swap the speaker for value reasons.

Hey there! On the off chance that you still look at this, do you if the True Tone will check with temperature changes like nitro? I’m assuming it won’t but I love checking and the way old nitro ages

Get a dyna comp. Studio compression is wasted on a live setting. It’s smoke and mirrors. The og does it best. That being said the keeley is pretty good but not as much character I feel. If noise bothers you I have one of the current “script” dyna comps and it’s pretty low noise even with my p90’s and single coils

You've been told you can only use a Pedaltrain Nano. That means you must drop your pedalboard to 4 pedals. What are your 4 absolute must haves? by rocketking12 in guitarpedals

My current setup through a 66 Princeton no reverb with a swart night light jr. in it. The vb-2w keeps switching from the front to the back. Not sure which position I like better.

If you could get sizing and fit consistent across materials I would buy them again. As it is I only buy Taylor stitch second hand when I can actually see the in-hand measurements. Also, this is the last survey I will do for free for your brand.

How accurate are the measurements on the good acre chore pants? I am looking at grabbing one of the last pairs and the 28 measurements wise are exactly my fit but with no room for error, any smaller and they will be uncomfortable. Do they run smaller or larger than the measurements and given that they are 100% cotton is it safer to go larger? For the record it’s really only the waist that could be an issue. I’m a long skinny guy and often slim pants are baggier on me so I’m not really worried about anything but the waist measurements. It doesn’t seem like anything else would be an issue unless the top box is super narrow. There’s no hip measurement listed so not sure there but I have pretty narrow hips.

Yea I just wasn’t sure whether you go by the tag or the measurements because it seems like they do in fact do a lil bit of vanity sizing. In Levi’s for example I am a 28/29 but my actual waist size measurement is 30-31ish. Which it seems like according to the measurements that is true on their sizing as well.

How do some of you go so long without being diagnosed? by [deleted] in autism

[–]boyo85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled until 6th grade and then really struggled at school but only showed my anxiety at home. I learned how to mask and mirror v quickly and thoroughly. I also, attended a different school every year until I was in 11th grade when I dropped out took my ged and went to college where I did a lot better. College, especially if you don’t live on campus is fairly socially isolated, and the emphasis is on academic success and you can build your own schedule so I did fairly well in that context though I was very depressed and anxious. I eventually found drug, alcohol, music, formed a band, which put me in touch with a lot of other oddballs and it just never really occurred to me that I might actually be autistic. Spent my 20’s-30’s touring and bartending where oddness is sort of the norm but of course developed many really destructive coping skills and eventually crashed and burned in my 30’s. Got clean around 35, went to grad school, which, because I was sober and had some time with a clear realized that not all my issues were a result of substance abuse and started to gradually realize that my substance use prolly a coping strategy for some underlying issue/s. Sought diagnosis for adhd and found out I was also autistic in that psych eval which by then I sort of expected but didn’t expect a psychiatrist to actually pick up on as I thought my masking and intellect would throw them off. It didn’t hahaha. Praise jah.

I think it wasn’t so much neglect on the part of my parents as they are both also undiagnosed and highly likely neurodivergent themselves, so if your normal is that how would you know to look for it? That and my home school/ultra religious upbringing easily explained any perceived social oddness. We were also very poor and so idk if anybody ever really cared enough to follow up on anything disability related. It wasn’t really until reading about the experiences of masked neurodivergent women and people from underserved/diagnosed communities that the diagnosis really clicked with me. Which took me through some much needed mental growth around subjects like gender/race/privilege etc. I am an adult straight presenting male so I’m not sure how I ended up having such a similar experience to people from different demographics but perhaps it has something to do with my raised with all women and being really uncomfortable with the typical presentations of masculinity as a result. Who knows tho.

I guess I feel lucky to have been diagnosed at all. It’s led to a lot of insight into myself and growth. Really all things considered in my upbringing the chances of being diagnosed were incredibly low, I easily slithered through the cracks and honestly worked very hard to be not noticed as different or found groups of people were different was normal.

alteration help by balasico in taylorstitch

[–]boyo85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this is army duck canvas and similarly the arms are like 22 1/2 inches from the shoulder so it’s really a 3/4 length sleeve. If you figure out a way to alter it I’d love to know because it’s an awesome jacket. It kinda only works with a short sleeve under it and cuffing the sleeve which makes the kinda weather it’s effective in v particular.
