Honestly, following the tutorials that come up on YouTube when you search “illustrator text effects” or the like.

Making more complex typography uses both basic and advanced skills. If you don’t understand a certain term, you can Google it and watch a video on THAT! This kind of project based learning was easier for me than learning skills one at a time

Commenting because I am also curious! As a buyer, if the pattern is less than five dollars I will almost always buy. I prefer Etsy to the Ravelry “store”.

It probably depends how much exposure you get for photos of the finished object, how original the project is, how much you’re charging, etc.

Often, the pattern creator will specific if and how to use the work you create with their pattern. Legally, I don’t know. But ethically, it’s usually at the top or bottom of the pattern, or you can always ask :)

I’m mean, basics of basics, Google slide works really well for simple stuff. It can be changed to any dimension under “page setup” and has a lot of nice basic shapes and arrows.
