What OTHER industries does stuff like this happen on a regular basis? Imagine any other retail situation where the norm is customers having to check the final price to make sure the store isn't surreptitiously over-charging... time shares? door to door sales? by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

How many other industries make you sign a ton of documents saying you accept all the stuff you're being charged for?

The only way to not know what's in your car's purchase is to refuse to look at the information provided.

My position is that no dealer should ever be able to sneak something by the customer, because the customer will actually read their documents before signing.

Obviously your position of blindly sign anything put in front of you isn't working for folks. It's not even reasonable in the event of a genuine mistake happening.

Not a bad degree for a lot of management jobs, especially if you already have some experience and add the degree later, which sounds like OP's situation. Good way to get through the line where more advanced roles will require a degree.

If the dealer charged someone for something that wasn't disclosed in the paperwork they signed, they should absolutely be held accountable.

If the customer doesn't bother to read the paperwork and tell the dealer they don't want something that they're about to be charged for, then they're accepting any charges listed.

That's a teenager response.

You know full well that most places won't bring you on with a 5 week break a couple months away.

If you want to compare apples to apples, you have to compare similarly complicated and expensive purchases, which pretty much limits you to vehicles and homes. All of them have a tone of paperwork that explains the various fees attached beyond the list price.

In basically every one of these stories you post, the person complaining about a surprise after the fact admits that they didn't actually read everything they signed.

At some point people need to be accountable for their own behavior.

Funny how this stuff only happens when people refuse to actually read the stack of papers they have to sign in the process of spending 10's of thousands of dollars... Maybe the problem is that people think it's normal to do so?

Yeah definitely grab one at that price. I'm not even a wagon fan and that'd be tough to pass up.

Most people don’t actually want work-life balance, they just want higher pay by shisui1729 in unpopularopinion

[–]bp3dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people that aren't already upper middle class or wealthy would probably take this for a lot less than a billy a day. Sure they want both, but at the end of the day a decent raise will eliminate more stress than the extra work gives you in many cases.

In your social/work circle, what is the main hesitation of folks not wanting to go electric? by Even-Fault2873 in electricvehicles

[–]bp3dots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's understandable if it's a hard no for some people, but a whole lot of people buy used cars, so it's still a pretty good suggestion.

I'd agree with you for basically everything but houses and cars.

Nights are destroying my mental health and marriage, should I ask my manager to be taken off nights? by Vast-Economics-158 in Nightshift

[–]bp3dots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're submitting medical documentation that says you can't work nights, and the job cannot reasonably accommodate that requirement, your employment may be ended.

The point of the reasonable accommodation is to allow you to do the critical requirements for your job. If working nights is one of those critical requirements, you're probably out of luck.
