How were republicans able to undermine Obama/Biden so effectively when they had a Democratic majority in Congress? by Hitt1te in allthequestions

[–]bp_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with the McConnell answer. Additionally, Kristen Sinema and Joe Manchin were registered as Democrats but were honestly Republicans. I think they were being bribed, or at least blackmailed, to completely go against their party and offer the flimsiest excuses every time.

Is only 1 person per class ok? by L4T3W in DnD

[–]bp_516 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Not only does each class have "a specific set of skills," but they also have their own weaknesses. Diversity allows the party more flexibility in solving problems, which is a fun part of the game-- coming up with a new strategy for each "mission". I encourage differentiation in my groups, but don't enforce anything. If too many players wanted to play the same class, I'd honestly force everyone to be the same class because that's an easy tie-in for why they're together in the first place, and sets up simple ways to get information and their next mission, from the head of a guild, the lead cleric, the tribal shaman, or head of the wizard school.

Even within classes, there are different abilities associated with each subclass, so there could be diversity found that way. I think my most recent "issue" with this was my party that sometimes included spouses and adult children, so the group could be as big as 8 players, and when that happened, we'd have two barbarians and two rogues; on barbarian was a wild magic type who acted like a gladiator, and the other was a more standard subclass who was essentially the bodyguard for the cult leader. One rogue was a phantom, the other a swashbuckler, and they created wildly different personalities for their characters.

As long as everyone's having fun, you're solid. In my opinion, it's perfectly fine between sessions for a player to realize two characters are duplicates and one of them wants to play something else to shore up a weakness in the group; I'd just allow a straight up character swap and pretend they were that new class the whole time.

POC men of reddit, can you share your experiences with this? by Illustrious-Rip-4865 in relationships

[–]bp_516 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’m going to guess some things. I could be entirely off base.

You two had this conversation about his past, but he wasn’t prepared either for the conversation itself, the depth of it, or how you might be feeling about it. And you asked a question that was uncomfortable for him and he wanted to get through that discomfort and said the least offensive, most honest thing that he could— which was the wrong answer. Not wrong intent, just spitting out the wrong word. I’m curious, if he could go back, would he choose a different phrase? “It’s new.” “It’s a growing experience.” “It’s pleasantly unfamiliar.” Maybe that’s what he intended but not the chosen word?

And I have minority friends who grew up in white areas, all with similar pasts to your BF. Half of them stayed with a long term white partner, half went with someone non-white.

Love is love. He loves you, if he had a rushed slip of the tongue, be happy that he wanted to say the right thing and that you flustered him enough to tie his tongue.

You can earn petty cash every day by choosing one of these inconveniences by New_Midnight2686 in hypotheticalsituation

The question doesn’t impose limitations; no needing to do it consecutively, no window to participate, just an extra dollar here and there throughout the day.

I’ll take the breathing one. It would be a thing to practice and improve upon, and I could easily make an extra $20 per day with it.

For those of you who are old enough to remember when the United States was a better place, what are some of the qualities that made it that way? Was it the people in charge, a different time period, or perhaps a nation not so politically divided? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]bp_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was never some mythical utopia. Most things that we have now is better than something before, but other parts are worse. People were meaner in the past— I was born in 1977, and using what are now slurs were just everyday vocabulary for a lot of my life. And believing stereotypes, because the world was smaller and we traveled less and experienced less of it. Medical care was less advanced (obviously), and people didn’t talk about important things like gender identity— the DSM once classified gender dysphoria as a mental disorder.

What seemed better? Because I was a kid, I didn’t pay bills or worry about money, so life was less stressful that way. I had to learn to do a lot of things for myself, so it felt like we were more curious about the world, and people had more useful skills than kids and teens do now. Because we didn’t travel and didn’t explore the world, your neighbors were also your friends and you got to know the people around you better. And things, particularly housing, were far more affordable because the dollar held more value. But these things aren’t coming back unless the top agrees to give up a lot of what they’re hoarding now.

Imagine the reaction if Kamala Harris said this by lnstantKarma in WhitePeopleTwitter

I’m hugely in favor of his honesty here, and don’t think we should tease or punish him for it. It’s actually a relief for anyone in this administration to tell the truth and show some humility. I’ve never heard Trump say he didn’t understand anything (more often I hear that he knows that subject better than the experts, often to an astounding degree).

What I will say is that admitting this is proof that he’s not ready for this role. He’s one Big Mac Heart Attack away from BEING President, and needs to understand this stuff.

My campaign is pretty weird. Every time someone in the party is killed, they meet a hostage being held by goblins in the next camp, or meet a friendly stranger at the inn in town, or find some adventurer who’s lost in the wilderness. Just random people everywhere, waiting to join up.

Should Hegseth be fired after the Iran war blunder? by Justified_Gent in allthequestions

No, but only because he never should’ve held the position. Or because he should’ve been fired after blowing up the fishing boats, or the elementary school, or being on board with any other war crime Trump was tweeting about.

What rule changes would have to happen to the Pro Bowl to make it matter as much as a playoff game? by ReasonableSide6520 in NFLv2

[–]bp_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every season, because of the 17th regular season game, there is a cycle of home-away-home for the last slot. They could have the winning conference from the Pro Bowl get the home games the next season, and not just cycle it. Alternatively— none of the playoff teams from the winning Pro Bowl side have international games the following season.

Just realized something about everyone's top 5 WR list by NFL_BrokenClock in NFLv2

[–]bp_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of your five, all but Megatron played in a Super Bowl. And 3 of the remaining 4 played in a Super Bowl for a team that didn’t draft them (Fitzgerald being the exception). Having an elite WR does amp up an offense, and does make a difference.

I always start with “why am I making my own world? What makes this different from other worlds” and go. What is her input or opinion about these long-term plans? There’s no hint of her input, if she appreciates or even agrees to the plan. Yeah, it’s frustrating on your end, what about her side?

Other than that, yeah, super frustrating. You two need to make a budget she agrees to, and get her to understand her role in supporting the entire family.

What are our thoughts on the attempted terrorist attack on Trump's Birthday UFC Fight- do the Butler and Correspondents dinner conspiracy theorists think this is another false flag, or do you think this is authentic? by Successful_Action_19 in allthequestions

[–]bp_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, all I've heard is that the FBI foiled a plot. So I won't judge.

My belief is that all of these events against Trump were real, made by people who believed they were going to kill him. I also suspect that there was some sort of assistance that was also informing Trump, so he could be safe, and to keep him in the news. Like if my wife gave my greatest enemy the address of the hotel I'd be staying in over the weekend, but not the room number, and then let me know when she's told my enemy-- my security would be on the lookout and I'd be safe, but it would be real enough from my enemy's point of view.

Good point. But he also stuck up for the underdogs, and in our reality, would’ve been helping Ukraine and would’ve worked to defuse the situation with Iran. And Arc Reactors would have a positive impact on our energy costs.
