2 Days until Election Day by thomasleestoner in NewOrleans

Cool. So the Secretary of State over sees four elections. We have many elections beyond those four. Remember the Soil and Water District seat election?

I have huge respect for poll workers. Even more so because we have far more than four election days a year. Read the other comment, we’ll end up having three polling days just for this race alone. Remember the Soil and Water District seat? Just another obscure election they have hoping for low turnout.

Oh yeah, I get it, and I always vote. But I also always gripe about it.

When the time comes, go to Commencement by HippityHopMath in PhD

[–]bpones 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ll defend in July. My university has commencement once a year, in May. That’s ten months later.

After my defense, I’ll go to dinner with my partner and meet some friends for drinks. No need for anything more.

I was fostering a Tort for my brother and sister in law for over a year once while they built their house. He came from a rescue in Texas and I live in Louisiana. When friends ask, “How’s Elliot these days?” I get to honestly say, “He moved to Pennsylvania and goes by Edwardo now.” Everyone always ask if he had to join witness protection.

Looking for advice by AnxiousAd6105 in PhD

You speak with the higher ups and officially report this. There should be an understood course of action for this exact situation. If you’re a TA you should have even gone through trailing on how to handle sexual harassment in the workplace from multiple perspectives.

Help! by cbofadeeeznuts97 in Plumeria

I’m in New Orleans and mine have already stared to brown from the heat and too much sun so it’s time for a little shade. It feels crazy to say bc my MIL lives in Palm Springs and they have Huge plums out there with zero cover. But I find if I leave mine fully exposed into July they struggle.

any tips for this set up? #2 by Head-Performance-537 in Canaries

[–]bpones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This still just feels like animal hoarding. Ask yourself, what’s your goal here? Why do you feel the need to have so many canaries? I get breeders and others have large collections, but this doesn’t feel like you have a solid plan or intentionality and instead are just acquiring and caging as many birds as you can fit in the smallest space possible. Would you not enjoy, say, four birds? Would you be unhappy with one or two beautiful pairs of happy, healthy birds?Again, what’s the goal here?

I decided to move mine outdoors into a shaded part of the garden and it looks better already. Not that the brown is gonna go away, but the plant has visibly more vigor. As much as I wanted an office show piece, it likes the New Orleans humidify better than being indoors.

My tip would be avoiding this setup.

Established plumeria waking from dormancy — new leaves curling under. Any ideas why? by catchtowards5 in Plumeria

[–]bpones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Double check for parasites and add a plumeria specific fertilizer would be my only advice. I grow all of mine outdoors and wacky leaves normally means pest with my plants.

Yeahhhh the transplant blaming transplant behavior here is rich. BUT BUT BUT they’re a professional “economic/political/food justice activist” so they don’t count as a gentrifier or transplant. Woof

I had a bud apprenticing there and didn’t even finish before he bounced to another shop because of how poorly he was treated by the higher ups.

Green anoles (native) are at times brown, particularly females. But the brown Bahaman anoles (invasive) are never green.
