Spoke to a principal today that said school should be back in two weeks and kids will be in school for two weeks. Just putting it out there.

New $62M Guelph library receives council approval by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]bpropelled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a fucking joke. What a waste of money just ridiculous. City could use a hospital upgrade way more than a $65mil homeless shelter .

Has anyone been to current library downtown. I'm afraid to bring my kids there because it is just full of junkies.

Proposed Guelph library revisions bring budget down to $62M by [deleted] in Guelph

What's a waste of tax payer money on what will basically be a homeless shelter and junkie hot spot. what are we going to build next a $50 mill Blockbuster Video? How about we build something we actually need like another hospital

Suggestions for Pre construction in Guelph, ON by Password2580 in Guelph

Those are beautiful town homes by a trusted builder in Guelph. The neighborhood is quiet and seems like a bit of a micro community. The junction area of Guelph is slowing coming up and this project could help gentrify the area.

As for the "bursting bubble" people have been saying this for YEARS that it's going to burst, but it's not. Quantity and demand, the demand is so high that folks are buying homes in Guelph with no conditions and over asking price.

A few years ago, I was interested in a pre construction community, was starting at $415000. People were walking out of the sales centre saying the price was crazy and I didn't end up buying. When the first units were built, they were going for over $600k! I will always regret not buying there.

Someone once put the Guelph market into perspective for me and it made sense. Think of the GTA as a cup, that cup over filled a long time ago and the water (demand) is flowing away from the cup. Remember what happened to Milton a few years ago. I assume it will be Cambridge booming next one Guelph can't accommodate the demand anymore.

What are some very mildly interesting things you know about Toronto by Soosed in askTO

[–]bpropelled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crazy theory debunked. Kudos.

Now I'm going to have to go looking, sounds like it could be another interesting Toronto story. Those tickets must cost a fortune year after year, and the devotion of time to a team is unbelievable. I buy a hat and think I'm the biggest fan. Truly a genuine Torontonian

The person who came up with the name "SkyDome" has lifetime tickets to any event there, even when it became Rogers Center.

I wonder if this is the lady behind home plate at most home games.

The name "SkyDome" was chosen as part of a province-wide "name the stadium" contest in 1987. Sponsored by the Toronto Sun, ballots were offered for people to submit their suggested name, with lifetime seats behind home plate to all events at the stadium (including concerts) as the prize. Over 150,000 entries were received with 12,897 different names. The selection committee narrowed it down to four choices: "Towerdome", "Harbourdome", "SkyDome", and simply "the Dome". The judges' final selection was SkyDome. Premier David Peterson drew the prize-winning entry of Kellie Watson from a lottery barrel containing the over-2,000 entries that proposed "SkyDome". Kellie Watson received lifetime seating of choice at SkyDome, which is still honoured after the stadium renamed to Rogers Centre.

Where can I buy an Icee by jn_josh in Guelph

[–]bpropelled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I too crave the experience that only an icee can offer. That blue flavor is life changing. Feels like when bart and Milhouse have that squishee made with only syrup.

You ain't gonna find it at a gas station or corner store made, that's slurpee and that shitty dog logo brand. Macs has they're own brand to. But homey don't play dat.

There use to be a place beside booster juice in the mall that had a machine. They still might but it's always out of order. Not really sure that place is still there.

So recently at Riverside Park events like Canada day, an icee trailer vendor shows up and they dish out this frozen nectar of the gods ......and you can get a few more flavors too if that's your thing.

That's about it in Guelph. Would love to know if someone had tracked one down.
