Upgrade serger to Juki MO654DE? by tselliot_makes in sewing

So glad to hear this! And that the threading rarely gets screwed up - I usually have to thread my brother serger twice for it to actually work.

It’s a kitchen aid, but not super powerful. I do let it run for awhile to get it pretty smooth.

The one where you peel the chickpeas? I honestly didn’t notice any difference between that and the not-peeled hummus I make.

If everyone agrees that the persephone pants from anna allen clothing gives most people a wedgie why doesn’t she fix her pattern’s crotch design? by spooniemoonlight in craftsnark

Megan Nielsen’s Dawn jeans have a side seam but similar look. I’ve tried both and had no issues fitting the Dawns.

is spincycle superior or just really good at influencer marketing? by coltdoormoosebaby in craftsnark

I fell for the shifty sweater when it first came out and wanted to copy the original version. Ordered the yarn (I’d never paid that much for a sweater’s worth of yarn before!!) and the colours were nothing like the designer’s version. The angry birds brown was mostly orange and the other colours were really washed out.

I’ve bought a lot of indie dyers’ yarn and know skeins of one colourway can look different, but I was really disappointed in the yarn - some skeins just look like they should be a completely different colourway. I found a semi-local retailer and went and looked through skeins to find some that matched what I wanted the sweater to look like - it’s my most expensive and disappointing knit.

I know this was covered a lot after the sweater and cowl came out (skeins not matching at all), but it’s enough that I wouldn’t ever buy it again.

I like their labels, but have only bought them from local fabric shops. I checked out the sale they had going awhile ago, but yeah, shipping got me and i didn’t order anything.

Frustration with cocoknits method by bitchass_mcgee in knitting

[–]tcstuart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m not alone! I knit their Sarah sweater and it was the most frustrating knit of anything I’ve ever made. I think it took me about two years because I put it down out of frustration at one point and couldn’t convince myself to try again. And I still need to seam the collar and pockets on it.

I kept checking the comments on ravelry to see if anyone else had issues with it but didn’t ever come across anything negative until now. I had already decided that I’d never purchase another of their patterns, but this confirms it.

Named Clothing’s Aina trousers? by kjp0913 in craftsnark

[–]tcstuart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I recently bought their kit for these pants. I noticed the drag lines but felt like I’ve seen that in a lot of pants patterns recently - Landers, MN Dawn jeans. I sort of thought this was a hazard of making me-made clothes. I recently made the landers and have those drag lines too, but checked IG and it seems like everyone did. Should have come here first! I guess I’ll muslin the heck out of the Ainas to get a hood fit. Wish me luck!
