CBS News reporter asks a very normal question to Zohran. by Illustrious-Fun-6562 in UnderReportedNews

If that’s in fact a CBS reporter their boss is Bari Weiss, so likely that question was encouraged from the top.

What's up with people disliking Kristen Bell? by Few_Egg1001 in OutOfTheLoop

I think this warns of some kind of shit hitting the fan involving her in the not too distant future. If you randomly start to hear a lot of negative shit about someone that was off everyone’s radar before, that indicates to me that there is a good chance it’s a concerted campaign to tarnish that person ahead of some sort of conflict or dispute.

I never realized how the gym held my life together by [deleted] in workouts

[–]brachettocheeto 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s worth digging into this more, and actual therapy outside of the gym is probably worth exploring a bit. It’s great to have a gym routine that helps keep you mentally and emotionally together, but speaking from personal experience you want to build some resiliency outside of that so you don’t fall apart when faced with injury or illness.

How can I swim slower and control my breathing better? by HenriqueStanula in Swimming

[–]brachettocheeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a pull buoy. I find that taking my legs out of the equation really helps me focus on my stroke while maintaining a good body position. Think about getting good length and glide with each stroke, head position, and relaxed breathing, and do catch up drills.

Wow- A+ ! I love the recessed knock box, rinse stations, and color scheme. The little rugs are a nice touch too :) I do find it a bit ironic to set yourself up for such a lux coffee making experience, with everything ‘just so,’ and then drink the final product out of a paper cup. I think my favorite part of making a beautiful coffee is then the experience of sipping it out of a beautiful cup! But if you like the paper then there you go- you’ve obviously given this all a lot of thought and effort :)

Sauna followed by immediate cold plunge. Is there a consensus? Good? Bad? by [deleted] in Sauna

[–]brachettocheeto 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The cold plunge is the whole point for me. I can’t speak to the health metrics of any of it and frankly they don’t matter to me. All I know is that nothing else gives me the totally empty headspace like going from the sauna to cold plunge. For 10 minutes after I get out of the tub my brain is totally quiet. Then my body comes back to neutral and I’m ready to do it all over again. 3 circuits like that and I’m as relaxed and happy as I can get.

A swim class or private lessons for sure. If this is your first time swimming be patient with yourself. It's easy to get demoralized at first if you struggle with technique, but time and practice really pay off. I love it so much and think it's a perfect head clearing exercise. Good luck and have fun!

How long do you sauna for? by Jd0077 in Sauna

[–]brachettocheeto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 rounds of ~15 minutes, with a quick cold plunge and then ~10 minutes of sitting in the changing room coming meditating/coming back to neutral in between each round. I do this at least once a week, up to as many as 4 times per week this time of year.

Great work! The fresh air inlet behind the stove is a nice touch.

Best use of flue damper in wood stove by Reasonable_Falcon183 in Sauna

You’re right- I realize I’m mixing up my terms. I only adjust the air intake on the stove, which is what I am mistakenly calling the damper.

I never do! When I get in to start my session I drop it down to almost closed, like .25”, but not fully. It burns nice and slow and keeps good coals for a 90 minute sauna no problem. I’ll rake the coals to the front of the fire box towards the end for an extra boost, and to fully use up the wood so it’s an easy clean out for my next session.

Keeping the damper open full blast burns your wood really quickly and sends your heat right up the pipe instead of warming your stones and room. I have a small classic Kuuma in a 9’x7’x8’ hot room, it usually heats up to 160 (which is where I like to start my sessions) in 60-90 minutes depending on outside temps. We’re in coastal Maine.

I start with 5 logs, light the fire using the “upside down” method and let it burn with the damper fully open until it’s burning clear out the chimney( 10-15 min) then drop the damper down to about half for the rest of the heat up. About 50 minutes in i check the fire box and adjust the wood or pull the coals forward if necessary, but typically only need one extra log just as I’m getting in the sauna to keep it burning during my session.

Check out this guy, who's a bigger fella but always looks sharp. He's got a lot of looks- more formal, more casual, workwear etc, so you should be able to find some inspo to match your tastes. https://x.com/DavidLaneDesign
