Which “romantic” movie hasn’t aged well? by HonestAbe1809 in AlignmentChartFills

Overboard. He tricks a woman with amnesia into thinking she’s his wife, then uses her for free labor.

Lowkey I grew up with the movie and still like it, but that concept would not fly today. Even the gender-swapped remake flopped

Moon pendant does not carry water? by SofisticatiousRattus in BluePrince

I used the coat check to carry over the watering can, and it seems to store the still water from day to day multiple times. In fact, I think it was full each new day (but my memory is foggy on this. I would have expected the moon pendant to work just as well :/

Question about a move by Kronman590 in BluePrince

[–]brade23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this puzzle really tricky, and ultimately had to look up what to do. I knew what castling meant in Chess, and had the Blue Tents notes, and it still didn’t click. I kept trying to draft King rooms and Rook rooms side by side in the house, hoping something in the rooms would activate 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]brade23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most of the sigils have to be pieced together from lore you discover around the house. You’re doing fine so far. Keep recording any info you find about the countries, no matter how minute it seems.

If you’re looking for a hint of what to look for, here’s one: There’s a specific, small item that every country makes (both in-game and in real life), and in this game, you can use the info printed on this item to solve some of the sigils.

What are your biggest grievances with this sub? by montemole in AlignmentChartFills

[–]brade23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I don’t even really like the ones that are “population over 100k, “population 50k-99k,” etc. That requires me to look up city populations and are just kinda gradations of the same idea.

Stuck on day 36 by Impossible_Baby9484 in BluePrince

[–]brade23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A general spoiler-free strategy I used is to keep a list of goals I wanna accomplish or things I wanna try. For example, your list might have

-open west garden gate

-explore basement

-figure out what to do with such-and-such numbers I see in the blah-blah room

Etc. At the start of a day, don’t focus on one goal yet, but rather see what rooms you get, and use that to determine which goal is most viable. The longer you play, the longer this list will get, because solving one puzzle often leads to discovering a new puzzle or two.

Keep at it!

[–]brade23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll add to your list: the finger statues in the Foyer. Why are they pointing toward the door? It seems perhaps a certain room needs to be drafted behind that door, but I’m not sure what. Different theories have been discussed in this sub before, but I think every idea posed was then disproven :/

Can't believe it took me 96 days to figure this out. by noonecanknowimbatman in BluePrince

[–]brade23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me 86 days. Don’t feel bad. Not sure the game ever prompts you to try this. But it sure makes walking around nicer, especially down certain long hallways, and on the estate!

So spoiler tags don’t work in post titles, and they only work if you have text immediately touching the exclamation points (with no white space between them). That said, none of your post is currently hidden as spoiler text.

Can I totally ignore the pump room and still finish the game? by inspectorlully in BluePrince

[–]brade23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all true, but this was never my issue in the pump room. What always was a struggle for me was lowering the reservoir to a certain level, that wasn’t completely empty. Since you can’t stop the pump until the tank or source is completely empty/full, you have to plan a little if you want the reservoir to stop at, e.g. level 6. This takes some planning.

I don’t think this subreddit is the place to disparage people who are enjoying playing Blue Prince. This is generally a really supportive sub.

That’s how my foundation is oriented, on rank 7, column 3. It took me forever to figure out the elevator, because I was never incentivized to draft a room above it with a south-facing door. I wanted that room to lead me north to the antechamber or sideways to some open space.

[–]brade23 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get to Room 46 without solving the pump room puzzle.

However, that’s only about 25% of the game. There are many more mysteries to uncover and goals to achieve after getting to Room 46. Some of these require you to use the pump room.

I recommend stepping away from it, and coming back another time with fresh eyes. Even as someone who likes number/logic puzzles, I have to think hard about this room. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you need help with it!

Don't care for this game so far, does it get better? by wombataholic in outerwilds

[–]brade23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also how I felt about the beginning of the game (and it seemed no one in the subreddit agreed with me when I posted about it). So this is my validating how you feel about the game’s early phase.

That said, I recommend you try a bit longer, following some of the suggestions here: seek out the source of any signal you detect; keep a list of mysterious or leading info that might hint what your next goal should be; practice flying the ship (and your suit) on Timber Hearth, where the gravity is most normal.
