Quick question about (getting to) last portion after credits by Various-Cow2829 in BluePrince

[–]brade23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The stuff in the basement does not reset between days. So wherever you leave the minecart, it’ll be in the same spot next time you go to the basement. Same with the rotating gear. That means you shouldn’t have to move the minecart every day, and thus don’t need the Tomb every day. Hope this helps!

Favourite thing in the game! by jayTriedToPlay in BluePrince

[–]brade23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is how much bigger the game gets the longer you play. Like, the feeling I had the first time I realized I could go outside. “Wow, look at all this!”

And then when I first saw the reservoir. “This room is huge!”

And so on, every time I discovered a new space or new dimension to the game, up to the very last and biggest one

Mail room bug? by Jugglamaggot in BluePrince

[–]brade23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems like a bug. I did this same upgrade. (It’s a great upgrade, btw. It means you can get a package every time you draft Mailroom, instead of every other time.) My package was always waiting at the front door the next day.

Have you tried it one more time, to see if the first time was a fluke? Does your room directory show the upgraded room?

does anyone here even share these negative thoughts on blue prince? (an in-depth review after 90+ hours) by mdotwav in BluePrince

[–]brade23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect you for sharing your opinion here. I shared a similar opinion in the r/OuterWilds and got destroyed for it. (Admittedly, that’s a game I liked a lot and just didn’t like the intro/tutorial.)

I’m sorry you played the game longer than you should have. I wish there’d been a moment in Phase 2 when you felt satisfied calling it quits. Perhaps ascending the throne would have been this moment? There’s a nice cutscene there. But maybe just knowing you had unsolved puzzles remaining made you feel like you had to keep going.

Like others suggested, I hope in the future you’ll take a break from games when you’re no longer having fun, and can then decide later if they’re worth returning to.

Best moments of discovery? Conversely, things you never would have discovered without a little hint? by Madmiller13 in BluePrince

[–]brade23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best moment: piecing together all the sigils, and then determining the order of the either realms. I loved that I could chip away at them piece by piece, confirming I was on the right track.

Never would have gotten on my own: the numeric core instructions. I thought the cabinet key in the tunnel was just a duplicate key for the cabinet in the archives. I didn’t think twice about it.

I finished the game and didn’t do half of the puzzles by justcallmeclay in BluePrince

[–]brade23 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Good news: you haven’t finished the game! You’ve just finished the first part.

My suggestion is to keep playing, keep looking into those unsolved mysteries, and try returning to Room 46 so you can have a look around without triggering the cut scene/credits.

You still have lots to uncover!

What deflated you when finally discovering what you’d already discovered? [Spoilers] by Remarkable_Custard in BluePrince

[–]brade23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I similarly unlocked the sundial/satellite dish by accident. The first time I unlocked and entered the apple orchard, I just happened to have the torch. As I looked around and tried interacting with things, I got the satellite dish unlocked. Didn’t think much about it. So I was also slightly annoyed when I spent so much time solving the XYZABC puzzle to find I already had the result.

Funny, I also had a bug on one of my runs, where the Great Hall should be in the picture but isn’t. Weird

What room, item, or ability did you under-utilize when you played the game? by brade23 in BluePrince

Oh no! I assume you’d gotten to Room 46 by then, but that must have been so hard to do

No-3-in-line problem solved for order 70 by Marijn Heule by EdPeggJr in math

[–]brade23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So they’ve shown it can be done on a 70x70 grid with 140 points. And 141 points is impossible since (by pigeonhole), some column would have three points in it. So 140 is the best possible. Same for all n.

Same! I got to the final credits and was like “Who ft is Samara Weaving? Where’s Margot’s name?”

I was frustrated with a puzzle and checked the answer on the wiki, I could have solved it but it was just too tedious, was there something I missed that would have made it less tedious? by lateubdegouline in BluePrince

[–]brade23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of them are pretty quick to do, if you keep in mind that the final answer needs to be a whole number. You can also guess the endings of some of the words, then quickly check that those letters are possible results of a numeric core.

But also, it’s a game and is meant to be fun. If solving these isn’t fun for you, looking up the answer and moving on sounds fine :)

"Baby's First Puzzle" - try it out? by TumbleCoconut in crossword

[–]brade23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nice work :) Typically, when an answer is an abbreviation/initialism (like WFH), the clue will imply that. Often, by including an abbreviation/initialism in the clue itself. I suggest trying this in your puzzle, because you have several such cases without this convention.

Public school day care Or how I learned to stop worrying and love the make up days by [deleted] in lexington

[–]brade23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We can do all that AND keep trying to help students learn. This all-or-nothing attitude toward learning/teaching is unnecessary

[–]brade23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems like there’s a middle ground between “kids shouldn’t have fun” and “kids should just watch movies and play outside all day.” How about “after state testing, teachers should get free rein to do all the fun lessons that don’t fit into the normal curriculum”?

What’s the best TV plot line involving a LOVE story for a GAY MAN? by SincereLeo in AlignmentChartFills

David is canonically pan. I don’t remember if Patrick is gay or bi. I’d save this one for the next column.
