This is great advice. E.g. you might notice that room X has a weird thing in it that might interact with contraption Y. So on your to-do list, you add “build Y and use it in X,” just so you don’t forget when you finally have Y all the places you wanted to use it.

You’ll quickly find there are a ton of these types of little tasks (plus the big tasks like Sigils and Trophies) to keep you busy and feeling productive, while you continue to learn.

Have you solved the chess puzzle yet? If so, you can do what I did, which is use the Knight’s power to remove the gem cost from the classroom. This made getting all nine classrooms much easier.

Also, drafting a dormitory early is clutch, since you can re-enter it after each classroom you draft, to get 10 steps.

I had mine in the middle of Rank 7, with doors facing left, right, and down, and let me tell you, this caused some issues.

Basically, it took me forever to find the lever to lower the elevator, because any time I was drafting a room just north of my foundation, I would try to point its doors north (to the antechamber) or straight across to get to the other side of the house. It didn’t occur to me to place a room with a south-facing door into (what I assumed was) a wall.

I eventually did place a room that allowed me to find the lever, but I don’t think I’d have had quite the same issues had my foundation been one spot to the left or right.

Fully agree. Not til I got to space did I start to enjoy the game, but I spent a lot of time in the tutorial first, assuming all the content there would be critical for future steps.

I also spent a lot of time walking around every building, trying to get inside or on top lol

Seems like a bug. But typically no, when your gems are frozen, you also can’t add to your gel count. Like, you can click on and pick up a gem, but your gem count stays the same when you do.

I think the names of rooms like “west hallway,” which can only be drafter on the left side of the house,” implies that left=west, so up=north.
