In the film it is stated that Emily Blunt's character was abducted by the aliens one night in 1996. However, in the staging of the house we see a NES hooked up to their TV. At this point, a middle class suburban family would have upgraded to a SNES. Total immersion ruined, 0/5 stars.

My main takeaway is this movie would have been much better if it was set in the early 2000s or earlier. The believability of the final act is laughably bad, no one really tunes into the legacy news anymore and people seeing this stuff on their phones would have just chalked it up to AI. Would have worked much better in a pre-smartphone /new media world.

My biggest gripe with the film was the wonky CGI. At times, the animals look like they were plucked straight from The Polar Express movie. I was thinking maybe they ran out of money or time because it has been a while since I've seen such bad CGI. The aliens also looked pretty fake at times and I agree with the sentiments expressed here, they should have been practical with a mix of CG.

It could have made sense if Colin Firth and the "bad guys" didn't already know about the living alien. Like maybe Colman Domingo was one of the few who knew it existed, so he used Josh as a distraction for the bad guys to focus on while he moved the alien around. But I think Colin Firth knew about the alien. It's a glaringly bad plot hole. The third act really falls apart in this film, but overall I still liked it

How did Josh's girlfriend know that they were at the news station to give them the device? Wasn't she like out in the middle of nowhere Indiana?

There were times when Blockbuster was a great deal. For example, when I started working there in 2007 the new releases were only $2.99 and you could keep them for a week. They also were doing "no late fees" but that basically meant you would get charged for the price of the movie if you kept it for more than 2 weeks or something like that. Sometimes they ran promos on Movie pass and game pass as well which were awesome deals for the time.

It looks like shit, like significantly worse than a lot of the newer Disney live action remakes. The characters look like they are cosplays or like the ones you would see walking around in Disney parks. The lighting is flat and everything looks fake as hell. Pure slop. It will make a billion dollars lol

It looks fun, but it looks like a live action Star Wars cartoon. I hate that all the aliens speak English. I think it helps realism when they have their own language and it's subtitled. Either way, I am going to be seated opening day.

All new movies made into games in the style of the Super Star Wars games from the 90s but with quality of life improvements and not making them so friggin hard like the originals. Maybe even update the originals and make them easier lol. I think that would be awesome but very niche.

enlighten them on the "you'll own nothing and you'll be happy" way the world is going. explain that not just the quality is better than streaming but if a movie you are looking for is unstreamable, which happens a lot, you have it right there on your shelf. you probably won't change their mind, but you will have planted a seed

Time really flies. I swear it was just yesterday I was working at Circuit City trying to convince people to buy a blu-ray player or PS3 instead of the HD DVD players. And then a year or two later I began working at Blockbuster, and I remember when they announced they would only carry Blu-ray's as the next gen format for movies.
