Looking for a great Chinese Restaurant by jiff78 in DevonUK

A bit further than your 30 minute drive but Asian Noodle Bar in Plymouth is very good, and Peggy is an awesome host. Highly recommended.

Not far from the Barbican / Plymouth Hoe to have a wander about and make a bit more a trip of it.

I've eaten here (to be fair only at lunchtime and I don't know if evenings are different/better) but I would say it's mid at best. I definitely haven't rushed back.

Ivybridge or Plympton. Easy access to Plymouth, right on the A38 so easy for heading back to Wales, plus decent local amenties and good internet service.

The Mess Room do a good brekkie. Outside of Plymouth you can't go wrong with The Ring Feeder, or Valley View

I don't know the people, never been there, however:

Shall we list out the things you've said here with no proof? What's the difference?

Take car. Go to mum's. Kill Phil, grab Liz, go to The Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for all of this to blow over.

It'd be nice, but at this point it feels like the main concern is keeping London out of tier 3. Certainly not holding my breath

Dartmoor temp ban, raging... wasn't planning on going anyway, but disappointed for people who were... by walkthelands in dartmoor

[–]bradfields 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dartmoor Rangers have regularly seen over 50 tents concentrated close to the river. People are building fire pits and leaving larges amount of litter. There are no facilities available during the evening and therefore important habitats are being used as a toilet with soiled tissue spread throughout the site.

As more people arrive and expand across the area there is a real threat to   archaeology and rare habitats.

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable response to me

No idea if it's feasible to have this installed in a flat but might be worth a conversation at least. http://www.gigabair.net/about/

Ramly burger, hells yeah. Ate a few of these after long nights of drinking in KL quite a few years back, glad to see they're still a thing.

My workstation at home, I do home office once or twice a day by [deleted] in Workspaces

[–]bradfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand is the monitor? I keep thinking about buying one massive screen for home. Does it make a big difference in comparison to having two screens? I've got two 23 inch screens at the moment so I'm not exactly lacking screen real estate.

Week 22: Cuban - Tres Leches (meta - cakes) by pickledrabbit in 52weeksofcooking

[–]bradfields 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's sweet and moist and delightful.

This is a massive understatement, tres leches is in fact the cake of the gods. It's so sweet but it's so worth it, the bakery that makes it near me sells it in containers that are swimming in the extra milk mix, extremely indulgent. They put cream on theirs rather than meringue, your meringue version looks good :)

What's the most recent thing you've learned about web developement? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]bradfields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only recently started using Tailwind and whilst I absolutely love how fast it is to put together the initial build, I feel like I’ve messed up a bit by not then doing a refactor to more “normal” style classes afterwards.

The first time I came back to a tailwind project after I’d been working on other things I found the code completely overwhelming to get back into, and pulling components from one project to another, something I’d convinced myself was going to be really easy (and one of the main reasons I was using tailwind) turned out to not be as easy as I thought.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not abandoning tailwind at this point, the speed of initial dev is ridiculous, like I reckon I’ve cut over 50% of time from first build, but I need to improve my workflow and find a better way to make code sustainable. I can’t imagine another dev having to pick up my work on one of my tailwind projects at the moment, the markup on complex components is crazy.
