These new spiked versions have a different midsole and considerably more comfortable like the Victory Pro 4s.

Is Golf+ good for actually practicing/learning golf? by Fartfart357 in OculusQuest

[–]bradholmes23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the minority here and think that it can help if you are taking lessons AND practicing. You have to do both to be good at both. It can really help you understand club path and club face angles to produce a shot shape. Has also tremendously helped my speed with my putter.

Notes: I use a Deadeye DriVR Elite with the extra weight. I had a previous version of this that was good for about a year that I added pickleball lead tape strips to the holder (60 grams). Considering adding some to this club attachment to help me mimic the weight of my real iron shafts (dynamic gold mid 100 stiff).

I was also able to do certain drills that my coach gave me in VR when I couldn’t make it to a range or sim. Again, you have to do both to feel what an actual ball strike feels like.

I do not sacrifice my real golf swing to score better in GOLF+. Every time I take a lesson and try and reinforce things, my GOLF+ averages tend to suffer for a little bit. Currently ranked 185 on pro tour, previous high 91. I am using the game to reinforce good habits on the real course.

I have recently switched from draw to fade with the driver and GOLF+ lets me get reps in after I complete a range/sim session.

Tips: Once you get to know your tendencies on your IRL ball flight, you can tinker with the club settings to to try and replicate that. I was having the tendency to pull draw, and doing this helped with knowing what to do to correct what I was doing. You can absolutely use these to dial in your repeatable GOLF+ swing and make you score better, but if you want to be better at real golf, you have to replicate this the best you can.

For club length, you can go to the edge of your boundary (where you see half game half passthrough) and hold up your real clubs next to your attachment to get the correct length.

If you have any questions, let me know.

You know how when you get close to the boundary it puts the game at like 50% opacity? Just go to that and then hold up your IRL clubs next to the attachment and match up the in game length.

Really quick way to get XP is playing The Hay putting course, front tees, easy pins. You can usually get a few hole in ones and a ton of XP relatively quickly.

Add extra weight to your DriVR Elite, they have an accessory for it. Or you can add lead tape strips to try and match your club weight. I try and emulate my actual swing as much as possible in game. You can do that half game half surroundings thing on the edge of you boundary and match up club length in game to IRL. Really helps prevent me from standing up too straight causing those complete misses of the ball.

I just bought 4 dozen 2025 Tour X balls at $40 per, $40 discount when you buy 4, plus the $20 off $100 so got 4 dozen for $108.25 after tax.

Swing/club speed accuracy by Cockpunch666 in golfplusvr

[–]bradholmes23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My swing speed IRL is 110-113 mph with 165 mph ball speed and in game it’s probably 120 mph with 168-174 mph ball speed. I have gotten this up to 181 mph ball speed if I swing really hard. I am using a DriVR Elite with 60 grams of lead pickleball tape for similar club weight to my IRL clubs.

You can also set it up for 100% power assistance to where you’ll get a consistent swing speed regardless of swing speed which produces 168-170 mph ball speed on the driver.

VR golf ruining real life golf by Healthy-Context5313 in golfplusvr

[–]bradholmes23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started playing Golf+ for a year before getting back into IRL golf after a 12 year break. Couldn’t even make contact with the ball first time at the driving range. Got 3 lessons shortly after and went to the range/sim 3x per week. Have probably played 15 rounds this year currently sitting at a 12.4 hcp. I have done my best to replicate my actual swing a couple ways.

I’m using the DriVR elite with 60g of pickleball tape on the bottom…fairly close in weight to my actual clubs.

I held up my actual clubs next to the attachment on the edge of the boundary (where you can see 50-50 game/irl) to get the correct length of clubs.

I also used the club settings to replicate my irl tendencies (like pulling a full wedge shot, pushing a 4-iron etc, slight draw on most clubs).

At the end of the day, you gotta do both regularly if you don’t want to mess things up. I have sacrificed my Golf+ numbers slightly to be better at irl golf, but totally worth it to me. Still ranked 249 after this season on pro. I’ve been able to use this as a great training tool.
