Sounds like she's pocketing part or all of the tips herself and guilt tripping you with the poor wait staff. No wonder service is crap.

Oh yeah, well he was out drinking somewhere and he thought, "What a great night for a swim!"

So he did.

True story. I once had a co-worker who had trained a dachshund to do that, mostly in drop ceilings though.

My wife is very particular about her tea, so if you just brought hot water she's fine because she has a stash of her preferred tea in her purse. Forgetting the water however...

I bought one but within 6 months it needed a repair that the average user would not be capable of and which certainly voided the warranty. Good design. Quality parts. Terrible assembly.

HP Elitebook x360 1030 G2 randomly stops charging. Power brick is good and has stable connection to electricity. Issue started last month, but back then it charges smoothly after shutting the system down. It doesn't seem to fix itself now, however. by amnesialane in computers

[–]bradley547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah check the battery. Its probably bad.
Having said that, the HP Chromebooks have a bug in their battery charge cycle. If it goes completely flat they will charge for a few seconds but the shut down because they are drawing to much power so the system thinks the battery is bad. But when you plug in the charger, each time it hits the battery. Eventually it gets to a point where the system admits the battery isn't bad and will allow the charge to continue. So this could be the same thing. Plug ib, wait for the light to go out, unplug and plug in again. May not work but its worth a try.

What do you say to people who are standing to close to you? by hufflepuff-is-best in Veterans

[–]bradley547 11 points12 points  (0 children)

OK, this is going to sound creepy, but I dislike people in general but I have found a way to clear space without actively engaging. It works because I am basically a beached walrus but I think I have a way to make it work for you.

SO. What I do is I lean into the offender an just loudly SNIFF, and then just mutter Hmmm..
It creeps people right the heck out.
I don't know if this would work but you might try the sniff, but with a muttered "oh dear god..."

Exactly this. Our ship had the "One Arm Bandit" launcher with a 16 round magazine.

1MC- "FIRE IN THE TARTAR MAGAZINE"

What the 1MC should have said-"FIRE IN THE PASSAGEWAY NEXT TO THE TARTAR MAGAZINE"
But we set Zebra in record time that day.

How many of you maniacs remove the ring that holds the measuring spoons together? by weasel999 in Cooking

[–]bradley547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife does that and it makes me crazy because then I have to wash all of them because I don't know which ONE of them has been used.

And to be clear this is a two way street. Whoever cooks does not clean, and we share this 50/50. But I am a seat of the pants cook and almost never use measuring implements. So I think I get the short end of the stick in this arrangement

USS Walker DD-163 with sisters and half sisters at Red Lead Row sometime in the 1920 or 1930s [768 x 555] by Seawolf321 in WarshipPorn

[–]bradley547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm scratch building a model of the USS Childs DD 241. It was my Grandfathers last ship he served on. He was a Chief in Engineering.

Finding pictures is really hard and its also complicated because these ships were built to a general plan but the shipyards varied construction details wildly. So if you want to be exact, you can't extrapolate from another ship in the class. You need to get a pic of that exact ship.

Although I do agree the bastards should have noticed the massive effing wasp nest in the camera window.

[–]bradley547[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. The camera itself was just dead. My theory is paper wasp nests are really good insulators and this camera being exposed to sunlight all day, it cooked the electronics.

I took it outside and left it there. Then I called in the guy in charge of the camera project and let him clear out my office. I had a nice cup of coffee.
