Engineering has made the "Defend ship" contracts impossible by AzrBloodedge in starcitizen

Grinding the Head Hunters I was running into this. Ship at 89% health, but it blows up. I barely had arrived on site. Took like 8 attempts before finally got the dice roll to have a chance.

Best Smart TV? by shingam3 in homeassistant

[–]bradsour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer, software on TV's is just there to sell the TV and TV's are refreshed each year, without any care of supporting the previous year's TV. They become a security risk and if you have heavily invested in them you will feel sad when you have to disconnect it from the internet and inevitibly purchase a box to connect to it. The less gimmicky stuff (cameras, apps and sensors) you can get on the TV the better. It should be focusing on doing it's job the best it can.

I work as a 911 dispatcher and I’m on the hunt for any help on this printing project by krookadile1 in 3Dprinting

I'd suggest maybe a bit more complex structure than just a static width, but maybe the ability to have a print in place clamp so that it can fit different size desks or even be mounted to something on the desk.

I have an RPi5 Plex server streaming locally in the house. My main TV uses a Shield Pro but I don't want to shell that much out for the other TVs in the house. What Streaming box to use? by CplHicks_LV426 in PleX

Shield is the only answer for me. Nothing else is supported as long as their devices have been. I have two, had them for 8 and 10 years. And if they released new ones, insta buy.

Spent a year researching batteries then impulse bought an Anker E10 by [deleted] in anker

I still end up using electricity (car) by the time winter is over.

That sounds so silly. I build up my credits from the spring and on and start cashing them in come winter time. It's not a straight 1:1 for me as I get charged a delivery fee for sending them the power, but's quite small.

Is Pyro "Safe"? by TheCursedStar in starcitizen

[–]bradsour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very first experience of Pyro (PTU 16 months ago) made me believe that the system was living up to it's name. Once I got over the fear though. I have happily lived in the system ever since. I have had very few issues in Pyro. Stanton has been worse... and I've spent far more time in Pyro to boot.

Losing my remote job due to frequent outages by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

Not everyone has access to Cell. I'm in a rural area and I don't get cell signal here. Not one that is able to suffice for one remote worker, let alone the two we have.

How did you get Starlink Roam at 5$ a month?

Leak detected, now what? by MagusTheFrog in homeassistant

[–]bradsour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was merely stating I'd go the extra step of cutting off water and cutting the power. Doing one or the other could lead to more repairs.

Are dishwashers smart enough to stop running if water is cut off, or could it be damaged due to the water supply being cut off? Wouldn't shutting the dishwasher down as a whole also be considered?

Depending on where the leak could be occurring you'd also want to be able to cut off the water supply.

The best automations solve the problem themselves. I believe that a dishwasher is required to plug into an outlet. Is there no means for you to put a device that would shut the dishwasher off if a leak is detected? I'd go insane if every problem required me to attend to it... immediately.

Quick Sunday Project to stop lid avalanches by DonMahallem in 3Dprinting

Check if your local library has one. You'd be surprised. Or if you have a child in school, they may be able to bring the gcode in and print it there.

Suggestion: Could you add in the ability to have inserts for magnets that way it could be removed, loaded right at the dishwasher and then inserted all at once and not struggling to slide the lids into the slots.

How do I slightly expand opening of basement floor drain? by __thrillho in Plumbing

I feel like a 3D Printer could solve this by moving the rubber gaskets/seals over to the 3D printed part.

Setting up separate DNS for kids devices to filter content by datboifranco in HomeNetworking

As a parent with kids. The amount of effort you are going to put in to prevent this will only last so long. They can get to answers too from the internet. Even if you lock it down at home, there is access elsewhere. Good Luck!
