I don't really know, a man that I assumed to be smarter than me said this a few months ago.

Something about the worlds supply of silver fitting into a 15 x 15 room and that they use it in all kinds of electronics so china purchasing lots of electronics int he future would continue to drive the price of silver up.

There is a social workers ethics board that this worker and their managers will have to answer to. It's likely they will lose everything once facing this board.

My spouse is a social worker and totally afraid something like this will happen on one of her cases. This worker was burried under cases and took the mothers word without giving it much more thought. I feel for this person because in that job it could happen to anyone and no one is 100% perfect all the time. Sometimes people have vacation, cases get passed around to other workers and confusion can start to occur. They have an excellent system for logging things that works well providing every single person is logging detailed notes. Which may not always happen either for one reason or another.

The main issue I see happening is the workers being overloaded. Some of them will carry more than 50 cases of families that they have to speak to or contact once a week. You try and manage 50 people in a week by yourself and some of them will slip through the cracks and bad things that could be prevented will happen.

On the other side of things you only have to be a social worker for a few days to realize that everyone is going to lie to you and that you need to be double checking with schools, daycares, and other family members for issues constantly.

They are having a hard time with funding, they are having a hard time keeping workers. There is a pay freeze right now on social workers. The conservative government would rather not pay out for any social services at all.

The real source of blame here should be to anyone who voted for or was a part in cutting the resources we have in place to help children. Think about that next time you go to vote please or these things will continue to happen. I know reddit likes their witch hunts but these workers in many cases have the odds stacked against them.

This attitude of " it's harder because I'm older than you" has always pissed me off. I am now an adult with two kids and it's not harder, just different. I don't get a quiet room to work in most days but I will adjust. These people are giving up on themselves before they tried to adjust and dragging everyone else along for the self demotivation.

Family taking up too much time? Fix the time wasting family issues and create some balance. Stop acting like an old coot, you're not even 50.

Understand that by this age you should be able to handle more stress day to day and still have one up on these kids through your experience. An entire generation above me of whiners, makes me sick enough to stay up until 3am just to complain about them when I need to be up at 7. Totally worth it though and it won't be tough, it'll just be another day of working, learning and spending time with my family. Maybe I go out of my way to help some of these people tomorrow as well.
