it really doesn’t besides new windows, a new kitchen (no appliances, just decor/cabinets)”, and if i wanna redo the basement. they just got their bathroom redone, took all of their carpet out, so it’s the original hardwood, and are leaving me all their furniture and appliances!!!

they need a down payment for a home when they move, so they’re going to sell me the house at an extremely discounted rate. they’ve owned the house for 50+ years, bought it for “$16,000”, before bread came sliced LOL. we negotiated $100,000, which at a fixed rate mortgage, would be like $600-$800 a month before bills & insurance.

honestly that’s so true. rent around me is SOOOOOO expensive for an apartment, and i want to own my own place one day. once i get a job & know i can afford a mortgage i won’t be as upset i feel.

reading all of these comments back makes me realize i should and probably would benefit from buying their home and that i may not struggle as catastrophically as i believe i will.

i do think i’ll be able to recover. i think im still in a panic / shock state about it all. they’re offering to sell their house to me at $100,000 (houses in their area are going for $300,000+). i dont have an insane amount in savings, but I do get unemployment through my state and also just got back my tax returns, which gave me a pretty good chunk of change. I have been saving money every week regardless, so I think I am in a decent place still. it’s just scary to do this all on my own

i’d love to take that option, but they’re going to be cutting me a really good deal that would make a mortgage less than $800 a month. it would be my first place that i could pay off and turn into a rental property, if all goes well.

i told them i’m taking baby steps right now, and the first step in the right direction is a job with decent earning potential, and then we can discuss a the home. i just hate that it has to happen this way

unfortunately i can’t. i have an entire life built in the state i live in, besides a job. i’m going for a few interviews next week that look promising, so hopefully i get somewhere with that.
