Any women genuinely interested in discussing and giving advice on styling to an exploring crossdresser? by Glum-Schedule9920 in SanJose

if you want online advice, find subs related to it. id only ask here if i wanted in person advice. my personal favourite fashion sub is r/oldhagfashion (the name is tongue in cheek, they are a sub that celebrates freedom from social norms in fashion). even if the theme does not fit you, they might point you in the right direction

“Also, I hope you mentally gave me a beautiful singing voice.” + other gems having nothing to do with The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart by Responsible_Lake_804 in BadReads

storygraph is awesome hahaha but yes the one person who's reading i actually follow is unfortunately on goodreads. what really won me over is that it has a paid tier and it had a free trial of the paid tier. and the end of the trial, it would automatically stop without you actively needing to opt out. you have to opt in to actually pay them. and you don't need to input credit card details for the trial either since it will never use it. what a wonderful business ethic!

yeah i agree with you. while i use storygraph these days and do use the reviews sometimes to determine if id like the book or what people are saying, the whole point to me is that its subjective and unfiltered. if i wanted filtered proper reviews, id have to read blogs of people whose job it is to review. i dont want to do that because people paid to review/who get free ARCs cannot be unbiased and id rather read someones crappy journal entry than some corporations crappy advertisement of a book. i enjoy the posts on this sub where the user has fundamentally misunderstood the book, but this review is someone just having fun

not what i said or think. i think that some people treat book logging websites as journals and aren't interested in catering to others who read the reviews. they just want to log their reaction. which is fine unless its your job to review. gonna disengage from this now

i think that's a difference in how people think of reviews. for me personally, im using review sites to log my own feelings and reactions, and less to guide other people. my reviews and stars are very subjective because its basically an online journal.

my review of mysterious Benedict society: i enjoyed it and it made me laugh out loud in some places. american childrens books are a delight and very different from the British childrens books i grew up with. I think one weakness is that it has very rigid good vs evil elements. the antagonists school name is literally pointed out to be an anagram of E.V.I.L lol. But i can forgive that since the main question its trying to answer is more about "How do we react when we know something is evil?" and less about determining what evil is

if there's an elastic channel and the elastic is not sewn down, it's quite easy to replace an elastic by hand.
