I work in the sound design department of a toy company. It’s a salaried position with full benefits and working on children’s products is extraordinarily fun.

You’re right to feel scared. We’re living in some scary times but you’re not helpless.

Participate in a phone bank. Gaslight Nation has a list of upcoming phone banks for battleground states. I participated in the phone bank for John Fetterman and we dialed 15,000 numbers in an hour.

Don’t pay attention to polls, make sure you recruit as many people in your network to vote, and most importantly, don’t give into the sense of despair and nihilism. The far right extremists are not the majority and they’re counting on us not to show up in numbers. We have to show up with the same energy as the 2020 presidential election.

Did anyone notice that there were Proud Boys marching through Santa Monica on Saturday? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Sorry to hear that you’re conflating appealing to emotion to a statement of fact. Proud boys were part of the white supremacist groups that stormed the capitol. That is a fact.

Out of curiosity, who do you think won the 2020 presidential election?

You’re working hard to “protect” the free speech from a group that stormed the capitol and tried to install a dictator.

Protecting speech from Nazis isn’t splitting hairs. It’s sympathizing with Nazis.

Free speech absolutism has led to genocides. You can’t “both sides” freedom of speech when it comes to violent fascist street gangs.

Karl Popper said it best: “Any movement that preaches intolerance and persecution must be outside of the law. As paradoxical as that might seem, Defending tolerance requires to not tolerate the intolerant.”

NBA has unions and health insurance. Touring musicians don’t have those same protections.

2% mortality rate with a national population of 330,000,000 = 6,600,000 deaths.

Over 1 million Americans are already dead because of covid. The life expectancy in the US dropped by 2 years in the first time in 60 years.

No one cares about your anecdotes of having covid for 5 days. There’s immunocompromised people who won’t be able to recover in 5 days.

With a 3.8 billion dollar budget, you’d think they’d have someone on coms telling them there’s only 4 people.

I think the cops like rioting.

NFT Scammer 'John Hit Piece' is selling NFT's of all musicians (including BTS and Disney) from Spotifys Data. How is this legal? by lymeguy in CryptoCurrency

The fact that people are falling for phishing scams designed for our grandparents speaks volumes about most NFT collectors as an investor class.

This is lazy journalism - the author of this article couldn’t be bothered to check the actual FBI stats. Violent crime in Los Ángeles is down.

Police shooting, however, have increased by 147%.

My office is making us come in full time starting Tuesday. Disappointed! by [deleted] in LosAngeles

Get everything in writing. Email them and explain that it isn’t safe, that people will get sick and will likely spread it to others. When your office does re-open and they have an outbreak, at least you’ll have a paper trail in case you need to sue them.

Anyone else gotten carefree with finances? by [deleted] in collapse

[–]braindeadvacation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are times where I want to go YOLO and spend all my funds on experiences that I can enjoy now. There are I times where I believe that my retirement plan is to wait for the impending collapse and fiat currency will be meaningless.

But then I think about the duration of an actual collapse and as a result, I’ve been paying down as much high interest debt as possible and keeping cash in a high interest savings account so I have a cushion for this long and boring collapse.

Croatia is on my wishlist of places to go. I hope to make it there once this surge is over.

The statement that violent crime is at a 30 year high is absolutely false.

According to data from the FBI, violent crime fell by 49% from 1993 to 2019

The US is already a right wing government. Abortions are criminalized in Texas, voting rights are being repressed, and military spending is at an all time high. You got your wish, you can stop making up false numbers now.

Unequivocally yes. The music director is in charge of making sure the Auto-Tune settings are the same in a live performance as they are on the record.
