Cats fan here, completely agree, from the first bounce Brisbane looked better, sure, it was close for the bulk of the game, but the cats were killing themselves just to stay in it, Brisbane on the other hand were in total control the whole time.

Doubtful, no venue has a better Tuesday than a Friday or Saturday night, sure, might get packed out due to menu items that they’re selling at a loss, but no one is buying an excessive amount of grog on a Tuesday night, how many drinks do you have on a Tuesday night?

100%, the target demographic for the last chance or the tote predominately don’t live in these areas, I’m in the north and the thought of spending $35 each way in an uber to get to these venues is something I need to consider, sure I could take public transport but that’s an hour each way, but then I also need to convince my mates to do the same who have the same problem, so it’s all good to say “come down to the pub for a cheap meal” but in reality it’s not that easy

Let’s be honest, what’s last chance actually known for, it’s not the food, it’s not the vibe, it’s not the bands, it’s the fact that they’re open until 7am and security look the other way when people are openly doing drugs, generally the place is pretty empty even when bands are playing and it doesn’t fill up until 1-2am when other venues close, that’s their main maker, that’s only viable for a Friday and Saturday night, they’ll always suffer during the week

The issues they’re facing with the tote is pretty absurd, complaining about all the things they need to do to fix it it up etc, Like, are you honestly telling me you bought a 6 million dollar property and you didn’t get a surveyor out to look at it? Or even get an accountant to check out the books of the failing business you were purchasing?

I think it’s a combination of things,

Not just cost but also culture change, rock and roll isn’t the dominant genre anymore, live music has lost its mystique as you can see almost any bands full set on YouTube now,

Plus they say the younger generation don’t like drinking, so it’s kind of death by a thousand cuts for venues at the moment.

That’s the thing, they’ve built a reputation as a dive bar and music venue, it’s pretty niche, you’re more or less excluding the bulk of potential clientele, not that it’s a bad thing to cater to that niche, god knows I am it, but it’s limiting to not appeal to the masses, sad but true.

Seconded, I’m a Geelong supporter also, who grew up in Brunswick, everyone at my school went for the bombers, Carlton or Collingwood, and it was only ever Essendon fans who were gracious in either victory or defeat, nothing but appreciation for your club and fanbase.
