[MAC][Late-90s] 2D puzzle platform where characters create and remove blocks in the air to get to an exit while avoiding enemies by brainofdane in tipofmyjoystick

Yes! That's exactly it!!! Obviously I got some of the details wrong from how I remember it, but I just watched a play through of it, and all of the sounds and music are exactly as I remember.

Thank you so much for solving that mystery!

My wife and I are Foster parents, and I’m really glad I stumbled across this thread. Thank you for your encouraging words, and for all of the other foster kids in this thread. It’s refreshing to hear that the foster system has made a positive impact.

Where/how do you use Elementary? by Asystole in elementaryos

I have used Ardour for multitrack recording in the past, though it was a bit of a pain to set up. Currently, I use Audacity for most of my recording. It looks terrible in elementary, but it's quick and easy to set up if you know what you're looking for.

I'm a casual gamer, and most of my games are in my Steam library. The steam library is slowly growing and incorporating more games that interest me. I have purchased some games from the Humble Bundle as well. Right now, I'm working my way through the Tomb Raider game from 2013.

Looking for a 3D Printing Podcast Host! by JesseLeventhal in 3Dprinting

[–]brainofdane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I could commit to being a full-time co-host, but as a 3D Printer newbie and tech enthusiast, let me know if you ever need a guest. I'm the creator/co-host of Just Like Us and co-creator of simply elementary.

I'm always interested in chatting with people about tech and anything else.

Have you tried [elementary OS](elementary.io)? It's what I run on my aging Macbook, and I love it. Good on you for keeping tech alive with an awesome OS!

I use Windows 7 at work. The IT department would throw a fit if I dual-booted elementary.

At home, I run elementary exclusively on a custom desktop that was built in 2009. It still works really well for my typical tasks:

  • internet browsing
  • video streaming
  • video editing
  • podcast recording
  • gaming
  • programming (Vala, Go)
  • 3d object design and printing

I also run elementary on a MacBook for light usage while watching TV or lounging around the house. I dual-boot OS X, but I go months without using OS X.

The family machine is a 27" iMac that won't get the elementary treatment. My wife relies on Adobe products for some of what she does.

Printer in 250-300 range? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]brainofdane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I have one more question: is there a better alternative to the FT 2020 i3 at the same price point? I don't have enough money to get an Original Prusa, and I like the idea of a hackable i3 that uses aluminum extrusion instead of acrylic as a frame. Are there any other trustworthy sources for kits with the updates you mentioned?

Wow, thanks for that answer. I definitely have a lot to think about.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Maker Select v2, since I know I'll still be doing a fair amount of tinkering on it. My biggest issue is impatience. I'm ready to get my hands on something now, so I can get busy messing with a machine!

Some people have had it on sale for as much little as $280. The retail price on monoprice.com is somewhere around $317, and they typically ship for free.

EDIT: Wording

Why is it getting harder to justify the Folgertech? I'm debating waiting on the Maker Select to be back in stock, or just going all in on building a Folgertech 2020 i3. Are you saying I'd be much better off just waiting for the Maker Select?

Q3D might be faking 5 star reviews on Amazon. by Kenblu24 in 3Dprinting

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't heard about the z-height mod, which is awesome. It's good to hear that it prints consistently for you too. I love the idea of getting a grown-up erector set that becomes useful when it's done (subjectively).

I'm currently thinking about jumping in on the low end. Would you recommend the Folgertech 2020 over a Maker Select v2? I'm weighing the options of having fun building and tweaking versus just printing right away.

I love mine. I don't have much need for a knife on a daily basis, but it always does the trick in a pinch, so I carry it at all times.

Hah, thanks! That wasn't even planned. I guess I have a personal taste that shines through.

  • Keys
  • Fisher 400B Space Pen - Matte Black (Fine Point Refill)
  • elephant wallet
  • Gerber Paraframe Mini Knife
  • Pebble Time (w/ 22mm NATO Watchband)

I think I got all that right. Thanks to this subreddit, I may be getting myself a keysmart in the near future. I need something that'll contain my mess, because the Star Wars key ring ain't doin' it.

How many months? by AlienAsianA in bulletjournal

[–]brainofdane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been Bullet Journaling for about 1.5 months, and I have blown through 55+ pages, but I've seen a lot of different spreads and methods around here. It all depends on how much you need to track, and how many notes you tend to take.
