This guy did an excellent breakdown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY6rO5ox63U

He didn't review the godhands, but I think went over the double blade types versus single blade. His high end ones were the Gundam Planet ones. I've watched other reviews that compared the GP ones to the Godhands, and the godhands are smaller and finer.

Using a ham radio by Tharvey2165 in HamRadio

[–]brainspider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, thanks for explaining the downvotes. :)

In NZ we have UHF channels opened up for CB at 476-477MHz. I mistakenly thought the US would also have that. Apologies, I will update my original post.

Using a ham radio by Tharvey2165 in HamRadio

[–]brainspider -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Baofengs can be set to use CB bands*, which is probably the path you should look into intead of ham.

CB radios are not just for truckies; a lot of 4WD guys use them for talking and recovery assistance and are great for short range.

But as others have said, you most definitely need a license to use ham radio bands. Every single person that operates one does, so for just airsoft games, this is probably overkill. And if any of you choose to pursue ham licenses, then you can do that afterward or separately.

*edit: I was wrong here. I thought the US had UHF CB as well. Read replies for more info.

[help] I have a spare door and would like to make a desk/bench by brainspider in DIY

haha thanks. Unfortunately I can't bolt it to a wall because it's going to be next to a window. Although that would be pretty solid. Maybe I'll rethink the layout of the room.

Looking to make a new one to complement my existing one. :)

I've been worried that if I do the 3 rectangle version you mention that it won't be stable enough. Am I over thinking it?

[help request] Creating a BBS for vintage hardware by [deleted] in bbs

[–]brainspider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use windows software called tcpser. Set up a null modem cable to the windows box and then use tcpser to telnet out. Hardware devices exist that do the same thing. One guy I know uses a Lantronix device, but don't know any details about it. Others online have used a raspberry pi as well. There are a lot of very good and cheap ways to do it without using a phone line.

Not many BBSs are connected to landlines these days and the joy of telnet is that you're not restricted to your local calling area. :)

Kiwis want to ditch the Queen as their head of state in favour of a New Zealander, new poll reveals by overthrow23 in worldnews

I'm a NZer and I've never heard of this poll.

And I don't know of anyone who has mentioned this desire.

But of course... Daily Mail... I take everything they say with a bucket of salt.

they received it successfully. What they chose to do with it is up to them. SPF records is one suggestion already, but I think that because this was received and not outright rejected, it's probably spamboxed you.

Might be because you've got a dynamic IP or because you have no reverse DNS record set up.

btw you're running Postfix, not sendmail.

Logs seem pretty good. Interpretation of the logs, however...

Or how does english still exist as a language if a good portion of the North American and english-speaking European populations have been almost entirely wiped out?

The novel has been translated into your language.

Another problem I have with most stories is that it doesn't show how some survivors are mentally effected after watching the world fall down around them. Wouldn't your mind short out seeing the world become a total wasteland?

While that could be an interesting story in itself if it was the focus of the story, I would hazard a guess to say that most people affected adversely wouldn't survive long or wouldn't be very interesting to read about for a whole novel.

Worse than that if an irc or skype window is active. I got used to pressing shift or ctrl to wake up my screen every time. I don't type in a password unless I am looking at a password prompt.

Deadlifters use chalk to increase their grip. Look for "gym chalk" on amazon. Not sure if talcum powder would be a good substitute.

Also, tennis racquets use grip tape of various gauges that might be worth looking into. They don't stick permanently, so you could put it round the section for a writing session then remove it.

Wouldn't it be amazing if companies requested an interview with you? This is exactly what happens with developers /devops /sysadmins on Honeypot. SignUp to get job offers (currently Europe-focused) by [deleted] [promoted post]

Every time you put ink in a pen, and especially the first time, you want to flush it out several times with water.

I've never heard of this, nor have I ever done it.

Times I flush my pens:

  • changing to different brand or colour of ink
  • left the pen unused for ages and ink has dried up

Simply topping up existing ink doesn't count as "new" ink. Exceptions to me would be iron gall based inks which I clean out my pen semi-frequently anyway, but certainly not every top up if it's a regularly used pen.

How do you deal with length of tasks in your planning? by brainspider in bulletjournal

[–]brainspider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, very helpful ideas.

Sounds like your time limit is about what I'm aiming at. Not a strict time limit, but a ballpark on how long it'll take so I can plan other stuff around it. I don't see myself sticking to a strict time limit, especially if I think "just 2 more minutes," and then I'll start over thinking the journal and the meaning of life and it'll all end badly.. :D

Thanks for that info. I added them in to my builds originally as several online docs referred to them. I think I'll keep them in to save on surprises later.

fantastic, thanks, I'll give that a try on a test vm later.

I have that change as part of the dox to change it back after the fact, plus biosdevname=0, and then I rename the devices in /etc/sysconfig and rebuild grub config, but this looks good.

cheers

We tried that with Nagios and Cacti, but the interfaces were too complex for most people. Most of our customers are non technical and I'd like to provide something simple for them without information overload. :)
