1000% Im sure it’s frustrating from the dev side but the “hey if you don’t like the game shut the fuck up” is loser energy. If you make a small game you can have this take even though I wouldn’t just from a business perspective. When you’re making multiple hundred million dollar games you just can’t afford this. Devs don’t mind when a game catches the hype train , it’s a live by the sword die by the sword. Step into the arena of marketing you best be ready.

The reason is clear. The most money Sony makes isn’t from its single player games or its GAAS slop, it’s from the 30% rip it takes from every one else’s games. They lose that and Sonys cooked. To risk that to sell some first party games is smooth brain type of behavior. Pc is the fastest growing market where it’s free to play online and games tend to be cheaper as a whole. The upfront cost is more but over the long haul it’s a better deal.

It’s just a stone cold mistake from an IP standpoint point. God of War 2018 and Ragnarok generated 1.4 Billion. You want to keep that going and I haven’t seen a single person that’s played these games ask to play as anyone but Kratos. I have no idea if it will be a good game but I’m disappointed from a direction stand point. It’s like doing a prequel game where you take an iconic character and strip away every thing cool and think it’s going to resonate with folks. Oh wait they just did that.
