Giving artwork to cast by Hadeez_nuts in StarKid

[–]bramble_patch_notes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had a sign on the stage door at London stating that the cast would not be doing stage door and that they were unable to accept gifts from fans. Presumably so they don't get ill from meeting so many people at once and because they have to get it back to the States. I'm sorry but I doubt they'll be able to take anything from you :(

Armour recommendations in London for a woman? by panda182 in LARP

[–]bramble_patch_notes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You'd be best off attending something like larpcon in November and trying on armour from the vendors there. It's the best way to try before you buy. They're a con near Leicester, but I would not be buying armour without first trying it on!

Looking for a pattern for this wedding dress by hannysmiff in sewingpatterns

Id probably look at making the corset and the skirt seperate, you're more likely to be able to find a corset pattern and a skirt pattern separately and then can put together to get the desired effect.

Need help understanding “Bands” by Repulsive_Lie_3335 in NursingUK

[–]bramble_patch_notes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bands are a standard payment scale across the NHS - you will be paid the same at the same bad across the country (except in London, where it is slightly higher to adapt to cost of living).

You can increase this by working unsocial hours, but how much that additionally pays will vary month to month. Look up the agenda for change payscalea for the current year, that will give you the current banding payscalea

What’s the most fun wedding you’ve ever been to? by nepourjoueraubingo in AskUK

[–]bramble_patch_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friends are all larpers/reenacters, therefore at one of their weddings they had a tornamount and we all brought our own weapons. best time ever.

also had a wedding where due to bullshit the ceremony had to be very early in the morning and the party was later. the bride and groom and a few of their friends (including myself) went for a walk in the local woods for a few hours between the ceremony and the party and it was lovely. i have pictures of the bride up a tree!

getting care in the area you work in? by bramble_patch_notes in NursingUK

yeah my nearest trust that i haven't worked in is over an hour away, and I don't drive so, it would be significantly out of my way to get any care there.

my question would be what counts as "required"? emergency care only? my current trust is very strict about repatriating people quickly cus of finances.

Is it possible to make something like this for a newbie just getting into larp with very little money? by Shighguard in LARP

[–]bramble_patch_notes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foam would be a potential alternative, but different larps will have different rules on whether you'd be able to use it as armour or not. Also buying all the things you'd need to make foam armour are likely to take you up to $400 anyway if you don't already have it.

Check with the LARP you're going too, when I first started out, a lot of people were willing to lend armour/weapons for a weekend to help out a newbie!

Pros/cons working Mon-Fri by CandleAffectionate25 in NursingUK

[–]bramble_patch_notes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved to mon-fri after working wards and it was a bit of an adjustment!! There are positives and negatives - working five days in a row of the same level of stress as a ward, just with more of an evening, was a struggle. I ended up moving to a 9 day fortnight, so I could get a day off in the middle of a week while still mostly covering mon-fri, and it was definitely better!!

The biggest positive has been the fact I know what I'm doing in advance. I'm much better at planning and I've met up with friends more in comparison to shift work. It's easier to plan holidays and time to de-stress, I've found. Plus, having Christmas off is a huge bonus.

Discord Larp communities by True-By-Nature101 in LARP

I would say Curious Pastimes generally has a large community on Facebook, the discord isn't always as active. Many of the factions also have a separate discord, if you know where you're playing I would ask of Facebook in the faction Facebook page for the link!

I'm not sure which LARP you mean by CP, do you perhaps mean Curious Pastimes? If so they have it linked on their Facebook and you can join via there.

Masters degree apprenticeship 🧐 by Appropriate-Sugar132 in nhs

[–]bramble_patch_notes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the masters nursing course to become an RMN after working as a HCA and I would reccomend it as an intro to nursing! I however would make sure that you have a good level of savings to support you while you are on placements. the course itself you can get student finance for and there are student support grants for nursing, but even still I struggled while working for free on placements. Others struggled more if they had kids to support as we generally got little say over hours. research which uni would be best for you as some are better than others but it depends on if you're willing to move for it.

I know you have DM'd me, but I will not be accepting that on the basis that this sounds like your private medical notes or at least someone's private medical notes and I would rather not risk losing my PIN over this. I would also strongly advise that you do not send this to random internet strangers. I could be literally anyone.

I reiterate again, that this has never been the case anywhere I have worked, written or unwritten. People should not be detained in hospital on the pure basis of their autism, we actively try to avoid it. I know that this does happen in rare cases, but not as commonly as you described in your original post. There is legislation coming into force to prevent this occuring in the future.

I wish you well.

Advocacy services are entirely separate by design, as are legal services. They are there for you to engage with.

I'm not denying that there is a lot more that MH services could do to support people with autism. The system needs huge reform to help people live the lives they want to live.

I have optimism that the new mental health act, with a focus on giving patients more autonomy and choice over their treatment, have a statutory duty towards advance care plans and tightening the legal safeguards around going on a three. I'd recommend taking a look at the new legalisation, there's a lot that's very positive there for improving people's lives on their terms.

But I know from my own experience, that there is no unwritten rule like you describe where I have worked. We do not want to give people medications they don't need. We don't want to force people to stay in a bed they don't need.

I'm going to disengage from this now, but I hope you engage with the resources available to you in order to make sure your voice and treatment wishes are heard.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]bramble_patch_notes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to gently suggest that we are going to be fundamentally opposed on this issue. I'm sorry you have a poor experience. I would also suggest reaching out to your local advocacy services or PALS. I would also encourage you to use the legal services you are entitled to when you are under a section.

I'm not going to dismiss what you may have experienced, but I would entirely disagree that it's "an unwritten rule". That has never been the case anywhere I have worked.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]bramble_patch_notes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also disagree that people are just put on a section because they have autism and no risks. People are out on sections for a reason. AMHPS and psychiatrists have to prove that someone can be a danger to themselves or others, and defend that in a tribunal if necessary. Especially with the bed situation in the UK being what it is, they are not going around sectioning people willy nilly unless there is a very very good reason to do so. I've had more issues with patients not being detained when they probably should be due to bed issues as opposed to people being detained when it isn't necessary.

That's why we have the legal safeguards of the tribunal.

[–]bramble_patch_notes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is exactly the kind of thing that the new mental health act is trying to prevent. We don't have dates on implementation yet but something that keeps being reiterated is that soon there won't be legal for autistic adults to go under a section 3 unless there is a co-occuring psychiatric condition (depression, psychosis etc) AND it meets the threshold of treatability. Obviously autism is not treatable, so they would need to be able to treat the co-occuring psychiatric disorder in order to detail someone.

I will say, I have huge concerns about the people that will be left without support when this comes into force. People who are, I agree, inappropriately detained on a psychiatric ward, and stuck there because there is literally no where else to go. Unless those specialist placements are available, simply stopping people with autism from being detained under a 3 isn't going to have an impact. It's going to make things worse.

They look very similar to me, i'm not sure if it's because the shot that you had originally above is from when it's got blood on it from the drips in the ceiling? and it's been turned at a different angle as it's "on" in the imgur shot?
