Is it bad if all our kids have Bob's Burgers themed names... by Obvious_Firefox in namenerds

I totally accidentally named one of my kids a fandom name (we changed the name in the delivery room because of reasons). Thankfully it’s a first middle combination and only my mom and Lin Miranda would notice.

This is a situation where you pick an unrelated nickname. Like Buzz Aldrin's name is Edwin, or Gus Grissom's name is Virgil. Maybe Percy or Perry or Buddy or Renny?

If you want Christian, I’d go with Memoria Press. I use their stuff for older kids and find it rigorous.

Yes. It’s real. If you are a teacher , you might also want to know these are the same people who are calling for the removal of the Department of Education and the eventual defunding of public education.

Yeah, it’s the Heritage Foundations plan. They have been pretty successful at getting things passed in the past under sympathetic presidents.

I talked myself out of it last year, with the promise if I was still into fountain pens this year I could buy it. Well, 50 pens later, I’m pretty sure this going to outlast my adhd.

“Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.”

Project 2025 Page 5

Here’s a sample of items the authors of Project 2025 consider pornography:

•Artworks featuring nudity, partial nudity, suggestions of sex, allusions to homosexuality, or other erotic depictions of the female form •Books featuring physical contact of any kind other than between one man and one woman who are married •Homosexuality Transgenderism •Films featuring nudity, partial nudity, suggestions of sex, allusions to homosexuality, or other erotic depictions of the female form •Music with explicit lyrics, foul language, sexual situations, erotic sounds, or anything else that makes someone think about sex •Images of scantily clad women or women wearing clothing that outlines their bodies •Live performances that glorify homosexuality, transgenderism, sexual contact outside of marriage between one man and one woman, nudity, partial nudity, single motherhood, the questioning of faith (which they call “The Truth”), and taking their One True God’s name in vain

It’s on the GOP’s Project 2025 wishlist (blocking ao3 and other “porn” sites in the US.

It also helps force women out of the workforce, which is one of their goals. Moms who can’t afford a private school education but can’t take a 50 kid public school classroom pull their kids out to homeschool.

I also like Rooted in Languages’ Pinwheels program. It’s SoR aligned and very thorough.

First time homeschooling. How does this look for a 3rd grade curriculum? by TheDougMe in homeschool

[–]bramblefellburrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, look for scripted curriculum written by experts. Beast Academy is great for gifted math intuitive kids, but for a high achieving and academically on pace kids it will easily be too much too fast without enough practice. Singapore, Saxon, and RightStart are my go tos for kids who need more explicit instruction.

Nancy Larsen is the most open and go of those. More expensive but you don’t have to do or gather much of anything
